Fanfic: Days passed as raids by the rebel Zentreadis had become worse every single time. The RDF had decided to move the civilians to the newly build temporary shelter not far from Base 6. Izzy was wounded after her encounter with Kyora, a zentreadi Quadrono pilot, had shot her down while she was on patrol with Jack near the area called the Graveyard. With Izzy hospitalized, Helena wouldn’t take any chances and sent the Azhars to accompany Jack to assist the Destroids defending the city’s entrance while the civilians were being evacuated with the Sea Sergeants. 
As soon as they’ve reached the city’s entrance, they switched to guardian mode and hovered over the destroids’ barricade. “Keep your eyes open for any incoming. We can’t afford to have any of those pods through.” As they were hovering, dozens of pods were heading their way and Jack ordered them to open fire upon them. 
Moments later, Helena came on Jack’s tech channel. “Wolf 10, Hiro’s unit just called in for back up. Head towards the south perimeter and assist them.” Jack turned his tech channel to Azzedy’s. “Hei Eddy, I’m needed by the south perimeter, can you guys manage this side?” “Don’t worry about it Jack. We’ll manage.” Jack boosted his way towards the south side of the city and found the barricade was empty. “Commander, there’s no sign of Hiro’s unit.” “Hold on, let me get a confirmation on that.” 
Jack then saw a few reentry pods heading his way and fired it with everything he’s got. Moments later, Hiro’s group arrived and he came in Jack’s tech channel. “I see that you could use a little hand.” “Where were you?! You were hoping that I’ll get myself killed then you’d show up.” “That my friend, is hard to believe.” Jack ignored Hiro’s transmission and continued to destroy the incoming pods.  
Helena came in Jack’s tech channel once again and ordered him to pick up the mayor from the radio tower and send him to the evacuating helicopters. He picked up the mayor just in time when he saw a few reentry pods had landed near the radio tower. He dropped the mayor in the evacuation zone and gave them cover fire.  
As soon as the evacuation helicopters had taken off, he ordered the Azhars to follow him to escort the helicopters all the way back to Base 6. “Guys, stay in guardian mode. Jenny, you’ll take up front high, Eddy, you’ll take centre low and I’ll cover the rear.” They moved to their positions and kept what’s left of their missiles and gun pod armed.  
They’ve encountered dozens of pods on their journey back towards Base 6. One of the helicopters was hit in the process. The helicopter was dropping really fast and Azzedy switched to Battloid mode and dived to catch it. He managed to grab it, held it near his chest and landed back first on the ground. Jennifer was worried about him and was about to break off her position when Azzedy came on the tech channel. “I’m okay. Take the chopper and keep going. I’ll catch up.” Jennifer took the chopper in her arms and rejoined the rest of the evacuation group and made a silent promise that she’ll come back for him. Azzedy was about to take off when he saw a large number of battle pods were firing towards Jack and the civilians.  
He took cover behind one of the rocks and start firing upon them. The pods immediately switched their sights towards him and fired upon him with everything they’ve got. Azzedy couldn’t do anything but lay back against the rock as it was a matter of time that there will be nothing left for him to take cover with. “20 against 1? Now that’s something different.” Next thing he knows, he saw a few volley of missiles passed him by and destroyed most of the pods. “Hurry Eddy. Let’s go!” He boosted high and switched to fighter mode alongside his wife. Moments later, they’ve entered the safe zone and home free. After the civilians had safely landed, the veritechs switched back to fighter mode before they landed on the airfield.  
The pilots got off their fighters and gave themselves an exhausted look. Azzedy puts his arms around Jack and Jennifer’s shoulder as they walked towards the locker room. “I’m glad that’s over.” “I’m glad you’re my wife.” “Don’t be so sure. I heard that command had planned something in order to stop the assault.” As they separated for the locker room, they changed into their uniforms before heading towards the medical facility to see how Izzy’s doing.  
When they got there, she was reading her book. Jennifer gave her a hug while Jack sat next to her and held her hand. “How are you today my lovely sidekick?” Izzy gave him an annoyed look before turning her attention towards the Azhars. “Next time if he asks any of you to fly with him, please do be very careful.” They all laughed as Izzy continued. “But then again, if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be here right now.” Jack gave her a smile. “That was nothing. If I let anything happen to you, then I wouldn’t have anyone else to bother besides Commander Chase.” They all laughed. “How’s your relationship with Hiro?” Jack went silent and the smile on his face faded. “I’m okay with it but I don’t think he is. He almost got me killed today.” 
Izzy increased her grip with Jack and gave him a very assuring smile. “I’m sorry I couldn’t be there to smooth things out between you and Hiro.” They talked, and joked until the visiting hours is over. They bid farewell before they left the medical facility.
