Chapter 7

Three months went by. Lisa and Rick where living together and Grace was already crawling around the house. Lisa noticed that Rick was starting to get restless. Lisa knew that something was up with him by the way Rick was acting. Then the eventful day came when Rick got a phone call. Lisa noticed the look on Ricks face change as he talked to who ever was on the other end. It started to light up like it did when he was flying for the Air Show before he quit. Soon he expression changed there was something wrong. What ever was going on Lisa was not going to be happy when she found out.

Lisa could just sense that when the call was over her world was about to change. She just hoped that Rick would include her in it. Besides being restless Rick was also becoming distant like he was when they first meet. And this scared the hell out of Lisa. The past few months since he was back was wonderful but now everything about him was changing.

“Right I will see you there.” Rick said then hung up the phone.

“Who was that Rick?” Lisa asked him as she walked into the living room caring Grace.

“No one just an old friend from my air show day thats all.”

“Well what did he want?”

“He is in town and wanted to get together for lunch tomorrow thats all.”

Lisa knew that he was hiding something from her. She could tell just by the look in his eyes. There was excitement but also worry in them again. After living with him for three months she was able to read Rick. What ever he was planing was not going to include her and she knew it.

“Rick you know that you can talk to me right.” Lisa said trying to get Rick to talk.

“I know.” was all Rick said and walked into there bed room.

Lisa just watched him closely. What ever it was he was not going to tell her. Lisa felt a chill run down her spine. It felt like someone was walking over her grave. This made Lisa shutter.

'I am going to find out what your hiding Hunter' Lisa thought to herself.

Rick went to there bath room and started the shower. He started thinking about the past before he came back to Macross to stay. He knew the day would come when they called him back into service he just didn't realize it was going to be this soon.Rick didn't like the fact that he had to keep secret from Lisa.

Yet apart of Rick was looking forward to going on a mission again. When he got the phone call from his buddy Lee from the air show it was a nice, but he know what was coming. They where in the Monument City doing a show and Lee called him up to see if he want to get together for some launch. Rick knew what Lee really wanted.

He told her who it was and what Lee wanted. Still Lisa was acting like he was hiding something. He was always honest with her about what he was doing. Yet this time he had to lie to her. This made Rick a little upset. He hated the fact he was going to lie to her

“Lisa I hope you can forgive me for keeping my secret life form you.” Rick said to himself.

Rick finished his shower and headed back out to the living room to play with Grace. Lisa was sitting on the couch watching Grace play in the floor. Rick walked up to Lisa and gave her a kiss on her forehead. Lisa shuttered at Rick show of affection. She still was think about the phone call and Rick could see it in her eyes. She was getting upset.

Not wanting to cause a fight he left her a lone and went to go play with Grace on the floor. Rick hoped that Lisa would get over her insecurities, but he knew that was wishful thinking. Rick knew that Lisa felt very inscure about there relationship. He tried to do everything he could to make her feel better about it. Sometime there was no point in even talking to her about it. Lisa would eventually get over it.

Rick spent the rest of the evening playing with Grace. Lisa didn't say much to him excepted to say it was time for Grace to go to bed. This upset Rick, he hated it when Lisa acted this way towards him. She was acting cold and distant like when they where serving on the SDF-1. He hated that Lisa he wanted then one he grow to love and care about back. A part of Rick didn't blam her. Lisa was always able to tell what Rick was thinking. He knew that Lisa sense3d he was lying to her.

Rick and Lisa put Grace to bed. Lisa was turning in early cause she had the early shift. Rick know better, She was mad at him and didn't want to be near him anymore tonight. Rick didn't feel welcome in his room so he decided to give Lisa some space and slept on the couch that night. This made Lisa even madder at Rick.

“So that how it is Hunter. Fine I didn't want you in here any ways.” Lisa said to herself almost in tears.

Lisa told herself that she was losing Rick and she could not stand that. She need to do something and soon. Before Rick did something to her. So as she laid there in bed all alone she made up her mind.

The next morning Nether one spoke. Rick did try to say good bye and that he loved her, but Lisa wasn't listening. Her mind was made up. Rick was going to leave her and he was only trying to be nice to keep from hurting her.

She left the house with Grace. It was a cool rainy spring morning. Lisa felt a small chill as see walked out the door. She put Grace in the car and took her to day care. Lisa drooped Grace at daycare, gave her daughter a kiss and headed off to work. She had everything planed out it was a matter of timing it out.

Lisa arrived at the base ten minutes later. She headed into the control room to check on was going on. Claudia knew just by looking at her friend that something was up. Once Lisa checked that everything was alright see went to go find Admiral Gloval.

Lisa found him in his office. She had something to ask him. Something important, something that would change her and Graces life forever. She knocked on his door.

“Come in.” Said the Admiral

Lisa walked into the room. Gloval was standing at the window pondering over some report that where on his desk. Lisa wondered if everything was alright. She would ask him after she was done talking to him about her request.

“Admiral I have a request of you.” Lisa started.

“Oh.”

“I am requesting a transfer to the factory satellite.” Lisa asked strait froward.

“A transfer. Why would you want that? Are you not happy here?” Gloval asked her.

“Sir I feel that I need a change of scenery, and I figured that I could do better up there supervising everything.” Lisa said plainly.

Gloval didn't say much. He had an idea on where this was coming form, but he was not going to say anything. He just turn from his window and walked his desk and picked up a folder and handed it to Lisa. Lisa took it on the cover read Top Secret.

“What is this sir?” Lisa asked with a puzzled look.

“It is your new orders. I been debating on giving them to you. But know that you made the request for a transfer. You made the decision for me.”

Lisa opened the folder and looked in side. There where orders in there for her to start a new base in the southeastern US sector. Lisa was shocked but honored by this. This work out to her favor. She would able to leave Macross before Rick could leave her.

“Thank you sir. When do we start?”

“You leave with the rest of your group in two days. Before you ask Captain you will be able to take you family there as well.” said Gloval. Hoping it would change what she was thinking

Lisa almost started crying as that word family. She held it back tho. Besides Grace she had no family. Rick and her was over and she know it.

“Thank you again sir. I will start making the arrangements for the move.” Lisa said and saluted Gloval.

“Very well Captain. Pick your team and good luck.” Gloval said and returned Lisa salute.

Lisa turned around and headed out the door. Her mind was going a million miles a minute. There was so much to do. Her train of thought was broken when her cell phone rang for an incoming text message.

'Hope you are having a good day. Can't wait till you get home. What ever is wrong please talk to me. Lisa remember I love you. Rick.'

Lisa was not buying it. Yet for a seconded her heart tried to tell her that she was paranoid. Lisa shook her head and knew differently. Lisa continued down the hall lost in her own thoughts. She didn't even hear Claudia calling for her at first. Claudia finally caught up to her and put a hand on Lisa's shoulder. Lisa jumped when she did this. She quickly turned around and looked at Claudia scared.

“Lisa you alright?”

Lisa just stared for seconded. “Claudia I am sorry. I didn't hear you come up. You just startled me.” Lisa said

“Is there something bothering you. You not been yourself today.” Claudia asked.

Lisa just looked at her friend. Claudia could see tiers starting to well up in her eye. Claudia know by the look on Lisa face it was Rick. She wondered what he did know. Claudia know or thought that things where better. Every time they where in public together they seamed fine.

“I guess thing are not as they look at home?” Claudia asked Lisa.

Lisa just shook her head no. Then she started balling her eyes out. Claudia didn't like seeing Lisa cry over Rick. She had done it so much since he left. Now that they where together she hoped that Lisa would finally be happy.

“Talk to me honey. What has Rick done now?” Claudia asked her friend.

“I don't want to talk about it. Lisa said threw the sobbing.

Claudia pulled Lisa in to an empty office so she could cry with out anyone noticing her. She just held Lisa and let her get it out of her system. As Claudia held Lisa she noticed the red folder in her arms.

“What you got there Lisa?” She asked

“My new orders.” Lisa said as she was drying her eyes. “I am getting my own command. We are rebuilding a new base in the southeast.”

“Well that good isn't. Your finally getting your own command.” Claudia said.

“Yes part of me is very happy.”

“Are you going to take Rick and Grace with you?”

“Grace yes but I am not taking Rick with me. It over between us.”Lisa said with sadness in her voice.

“What are you talking about. It over how can that be.” Claudia said surprised by what Lisa said.

“He is leaving me I just know it and I can't deal with that again. So I decided to leave him before he leaves me.”

“Lisa you know this for sure.”

Lisa just nodded. Tiers started to flow again. Claudia just stood there in shock. She didn't know what to say to her friend. All she could do was console her. The two friends just sat there in the office and didn't say anything. Claudia just watch her friend and wished she could help her. She wanted to go find Rick and beat his ass for making Lisa cry again.

After Lisa left with Grace he cleaned up the kitchen and the rest of the house. After he was done with that he took a shower and got dressed. He had a few earns to run before he met Lee for lunch. Rick garbed his car keys and headed out. When Rick got into his car he found one of Lisa scarfs in the front seat.

Rick couldn't help by picking it up and smelling it. Lisa perfume was still strong on it. He loved the sent and missed it. He slept on that coach that night and it hurt him that he could not sleep with her in his arms. Lisa was so cold to him during breakfast. Rick thought it would be nice to text her and say he was sorry for what ever he did to up set her.

After Rick sent Lisa the message he started his car and headed out to do his earn. By the time he finished with them it was almost launch time . He told Lee the they would meet at a the restaurant that Minmay aunt and uncled owed. It had been a while since seeing them and he would be nice to visit them and Lee at the same time.

Rick pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. He could see Lee was already there. Rick parked his car and was getting out when Lee walked over to him. Rick gave his friend a hug and they walked into the restaurant. Lena about fell over when she saw Rick walk in the door. After she regained her balance she ran up to Rick and hugged him tightly.

Rick about got the wind knock out of him when Lena ran up and hugged him. Lee just stood back and laughed. Rick was shocked by her reaction but was happy to see her. Max her husband poked his head out of the kitchen seeing what was all the commotion about. When he saw Rick he put down what he was doing to greet there old friend.

Lena was crying on Rick shoulder when Max walked up and shook his hand.

“How you been my boy?” Max asked him

“I am doing well uncle Max. How are things around here?” Rick asked.

“We are getting along fine. Sweetie why don't you let Rick go and get them a seat.” Max told his wife.

Lena dried her eyes and show Rick and Lee to a table. The friends ordered there food and started talking. Rick knew already what was coming but he asked anyway.

“So what you got for me?” Rick asked Lee.

“A new target has come up in old London.” Lee said as he pulled a file out of his brief case. He handed it to Rick.

Rick looked at the folder. On the front was the emblem for the Untied Earth Government, and Black Ops Section. Rick broke the seal on the folder. Inside was several pages of a report and a picture of a building. Rick read the report then looked up to Lee.

“So when is the go for this one?” Rick asked.

“It appears that the warlord in the area is gearing up for a major offensive on the local government. The UEG has found where he is based. That the picture of the building. Our orders are to take him and the rest of the rebel force out with a surgical strike. We leave in forty eight hours.” Lee told Rick

“Right make sure everything is ready to go. I will meet you at the hanger in two days.” Rick said

Just as they where finishing up Mina brought out there food. The two friends eat and talked about other thing. Both of them knew that in two day they would be risking there lives for the UEG. Like they had done so many times in the past ten years.
