Chapter 5

Before Rick know it they where at Lisa's front door. There was no getting around it now. He had to tell her the truth.

“Lisa I have something to tell you..” Rick said softly.

“Well let go in and I will make some tea and we can talk.” Lisa asked.

“ That will do thank you.”Rick said.

Lisa unlocked her door and they went in. It was a small two bedroom house. Like most of the other base house around, but Lisa made her feel more welcoming then Max's place. Rick could tell that she spent a lot of time working on it and keeping it clean. Lisa took both there coats and hung the in the closet by the front door. She went into the kitchen and started some tea. Rick walked into the living room and started to look around.

“Nice place you got.”Rick said.

“Thanks I try to make it feel homier. After been on duty all day the last thing I want is to come home to a place that look like my office. Lisa said bring the tea into the living room

Rick was looking at the picture of Roy and Claudia wedding. He wished that he was here for his big bother, But he couldn't just get away that easy. Lisa set the tray on the coffee table. She watched Rick as he looked at the picture she had around her living room.

“Well you done a great job.” Rick said.

“Roy and Claudia missed you there.” Lisa said noticing the look on Rick's face.

“Where?” Rick said with a puzzled look on his face.

“There wedding.”

“I wish I could of got away but the show schedule keeps me busy.”

Lisa just shook her head as she took a sip out of her tea. Rick came over to the couch and joined her there. He pick up his cup and took a sip. He was getting ready to tell her what he had to say but she cut him off.

“Rick why was the real reason you left the RDF? Was it me? Did I run you off.” Lisa asked him out of the blue.

Rick about chock on his tea and he burned his tongue when she asked him that. He was wondering when she was going to get to asking him that. He had dreaded that question before he even got to Macross City. He was not sure that there was a good enof answer that would not hurt her feelings. That and the fact that he had to tell her he was leaving again. So Rick thought the best thing to do was tell her the truth.

“Lisa there is no one reason, but many why I left. But the short end of it was all the rules and regulation. Just took the fun out of flying for me. I had to get that back. That and there was no one left for me to protect at the time. Being the war took some one I cared about.” When Rick said the he knew it would hurt Lisa and she knew who he was talking about.

“But what about us? I thought there was something building between us.” Lisa asked very sadly.

“Lisa there was never us outside of work. When we where at work together,Hell all we ever did was fight. I couldn't take it anymore. That was not the reason I left. I respected you, but I thought you hated me.” Rick said.

Rick look at Lisa and those once bright emerald Eyes had faded. She was hurting and Rick could see that.

“ Lisa that night we had that big blow out made me realize that I was stay all for the wrong reasons. What you said about me was true. I was a worthless officer. I was a disgrace to the uniform so I took it off never to ware it again.”

Rick stopped and just looked out the window. He heard Lisa start to cry. And it made him turn around and come to her side. Lisa buried her face in her hand and stated cry very hard. Rick sat next to her and just held her.

“Lisa it was not your fault that I left. In fact i should be thanking you for making me realized that what I was doing was a joke, I respected you to much to keep bring you down and making you mad.” Rick paused. He know he had to tell her but how.

“Rick I am so sorry that I said those things about you. I never know that you felt that way.” Lisa said between the sobbing. “It was not until you left that I realized what my true feeling for you where. After you left all I felt abandon.”

Rick just held her tight and kissed her head and tried to comfort Lisa. He wished that there was something he could do to ease her pain. Rick never thought that she would take it this hard. She was stronger then this. Maybe she liked him. Well at least she cared for him as a friend. Lisa finally stopped her crying long enof to look up at Rick.

“Please don't leave again I don't think I could stand losing you again.”

“Lisa I have to go. Thats what Sam pulled me off to the side before we left. I have to go get thing ready for the next stop.”

“Rick no. I just got you back and your leaving again.”

“Lisa there is one more thing I have to tell you. This has taken all my nerve to tell you this. I realized this the other day before I came back. I am in love with you. There I said it. I know you don't feel the same why but I had to tell you before I left.”

Lisa was shocked by Rick confection of love for her. Lisa thought she was dreaming again. She just stared at him. The way that she looked at Rick made him fell uneasy. Maybe it was a mistake to tell her but it was out there now. Lisa didn't say a word. She just reached up and kissed Rick with such passion and strength that it nearly took his breath away.

Lisa pulled away form Rick lips long enof to get some air and started kissing him again. This time it was genital and loving kisses. Before Rick know what was going on his shirt was off. He never thought Lisa was this aggressive but I guess he was wrong. Rick started to caress her back. Then his hands found there way to her breasts.

They where soft but firm. He moved his hands from outside her bra to under it. The next thing Rick knew was Lisa taking off here shirt then her bra. He leaned down and kissed each one of her breasts. Lisa moaned even more. She ran her fingers the his hair and down his back when he did that. That was all Rick could stand.

Rick at Lisa for a second and thought he should not being dong this. That was until Lisa spoke.

“I want want you Rick. Please don't stop.” Lisa cued at him.

Rick got up and picked her up and carried her in to her bed room. Hr gently laid her on the bed. Lisa sat up and started undoing his pants. He know then there was no turning back. He wanted Lisa to. This was the woman he loved with every cell in is body. There was no way that he would deny her what she wanted,not tonight.

“I am in love you Rick Hunter.” Lisa whispered in his ear as they made love.

The next morning Rick was up before sun rise. He just laid there and watched Lisa sleep. He had a busy day and a long trip ahead of him. Rick didn't want to leave her side, but he had to go. As much as he hated leavening her just after they declared there love for each other. Rick got up quietly and got dressed. Before he left her he wrote her a note. Rick left it on her night stand. He gave her a kiss on the forehead then just looked at Lisa one last time before heading for the airfield.

'Will be together soon Lisa I promise you.' Rick thought to himself, and left the house.

Luckily Lisa didn't live for from the airfield so he just walked. Rick hand held radio started making noise. He know right away who it was.

“This is Rick.” he answered.

“Where the hell are you. Everyone is waiting for you. You need to get to going and get everything ready for us” Sam yelled at him over the phone.

“ I know what we have to do Sam. Keep clam my friend. I will be there in a few. Have the crew get my jet fuel and armed. Oh And tell Lee to leave me the right charts this time.” Rick said.

“Right see you at our next stop. Later kiddo.” Sam said then hung up.

Rick hung up the phone. Ten minutes later he was at the field and in his flight suite. He started doing his preflight inspection. With all that done Rick hoped in and fired up his plane had headed out. Once rick got clearance to depart .Rick left out at full afterburner trying not to second guess his decision to leave Lisa behind again. He swore to himself that he would be back for her. He rocked over the base housing area in just the hope to knock Roy out of bed. Rick just laugh to himself at the sight of it. Then his thought where of Lisa. Hoping that she would be alright.

The sound of the jets normally wouldn't cause Lisa to wake but when she hear this one taking off she reached over where Rick was suppose to be but he was gone. Lisa jumped out of bed covering herself with the bed spread. She went to the window just as she opened the blinds she could see twin blue flames racing off in the distance. She knew that It was Rick but she wished that she had not slept so soundly. Rick had worn her out after making love several times threw the night.

Lisa could still feel the warmth of his skin on her. She closed the blinds back after she could no longer see him and went back to bed. Lisa grab the pillow that Rick slept on. It still smelled of him. Lisa went back to sleep curled up with the pillow. It wasn't until dawn when she noticed that Rick left her a note.

“Lisa,

Last night was wonderful I will remember it always. Until I return to

you. I took one of you photo you had lying around. I am going to put it up

in my cockpit so I can look at it when I am on the road. Oh and by the way

The song the other night was true.

All my love

Rick.

When Lisa was done reading it she started crying. But she had to get up and head into work. As she was eating breakfast her phone started ringing, She knew of only one person that would call her at this time of the day.

“Hello.” Lisa answered.

“So how was last night?”

“Claudia a lady never tell.”

“That good ha.”

“Even better and thats all I am saying.” Lisa said flatly.

“Ok then sound like some one had a good time the. I wont pry. All I know is that Rick scared the hell out of Roy this morning taking off. Roy says he going to kill him when he gets back.” Claudia said chuckling.

Lisa just laugh at what her friend told her. It sound like just what Rick would do. Lisa said goodbye to Claudia and hung up the phone Rick little stunt put a smile on her face, But her heart was sadden by the fact that Rick was gone out her life for God knows how long. Lisa stood in the door way of her room remembering last night. She wanted him back now, But she had to wait for him, and she would wait for as long as it took for Rick to return.

A year had past since Rick left. He was on his way back now for good. He quit the show and was flying home to Macross City for good. Sam let him keep the fighter. It was a goodbye gift to Rick for all he had done for the show.

Rick still had over two hundred mile to go before he was close to home. He had the autopilot set and was listing to some music from his mobile player that he hooked you to the jets radio system. He reached in to his flight suit chest pocket and pulled out the picture of Lisa that he had taken from her place. Rick wrote to Lisa everyday.

Rick had sent Lisa a letter telling her to let everyone know that he would be coming back home today. But since the show always moved around and Lisa had no way of getting a hold of him, Rick was not even sure that he got the letter. He also sent one to Roy and Max. He hope that they got theres. He even tried to call her at his last fuel stop but could not get threw.

About an hour out the controller from the center had Rick switch to Macross approach. Rick switched his radio over too the frequency and made contact. Macross Control vectored him in to the new civilian airfield. He hope to land at the base again but no luck. Then a voice came over the Radio that he knew very well.

“Hey Rick buddy how long before you get here.?” the voice asked.

“Hey Roy I will be on the ground in thirty minutes. Is everyone there?” Rick asked him.

“Nope just me and Laura. Everyone else is on duty and I came here to get you.”

“Thanks for that. So who is Laura Roy?. ” Rick joked with his Brother.

“Laura is my daughter you dumb ass.” Roy said annoyed “But if you where not so hard to get a hold of you would know that by now.”

“Ok Roy. I didn't mean to get you upset at me.” Rick said almost laughing.

“No wise cracks.” I will see you when you get on the ground. I got your letter and made arrangements for your plane. I got a hanger for you on the south end of the field. It off alpha -6.”

“Roger Roy and thanks. See you when I get on the ground. Got to go, controller yakking at me.”

Rick said and changed back to control.

Rick lined up with the runway and step up for the approach. Everything went soothly for his landing and as he exited the runway he made his way to his new hanger. As he got closer he could see Roy standing by the hanger door with his daughter in his arms. Rick couldn't believe that Roy was a father now.

Rick shut down his engines and coasted in to the hanger. It had a door on both end so Rick didn't have to worry about pushing it in with a tug. He opened the canopy and Roy pushed up a stand to the left side so Rick could get out. Rick looked around the hanger. Roy went to a lot of effort to get every thing that Rick might need for his plane.

“Roy thanks for all this. You went way beyond my imagination. Thanks you.” Rick said hugging Roy as he came down the steps.

“Nothing to good for my little brother. And it was no problem Lisa help a lot finding all this equipment. Now get you stuff and let get you to your place.”

“Alright. Let me get it out of the back seat.” Rick said.

Rick grabbed his stuff and meet Roy at his Car. Roy drove him about two minutes up the road from the airport. Lisa found Rick a small house over looking the airport. She knew that he wanted to be close to the airfield. Rick thought it was perfect. It was a small three bedroom ranch with a nice size back yard and a deck on it. From the deck Rick could see the airport. There was not much furniture in it, but Rick didn't care.

“Welcome home Little Bro.” Roy said putting his arm over Rick shoulder.

“Thanks. It good to be back.”

The two friend just stood on the deck and watched the planes taking off and land at the field.

Rick was home, and if felt good. Later that evening Rick was unpacking his stuff when there was a knock at his door. When he answered the door he got the shock of his life
