fanfic = Chapter Five – Claudia

I read most of the flight, military flights are nothing as commercial ones, we arrived New York city to make the connection with the plane that would take us to our final destination… Macross City, nearby Japan.

We didn’t land in a commercial hangar, but directly to a military one, I kind of hoped to walk at least for an hour in JFK’s duty free but we weren’t that lucky. Karl and I always talked about visiting NY and walked in its famous avenues, visiting the Met and maybe go to some Broadway shows, we used to joke about having our honeymoon in NY, staying in the Plaza, but there I was in a military hangar in a whole different situation. For a few moments little Lisa fought to show herself, but as always Official Hayes kept her for doing it.

I boarded the plane and for a few instants I felt in the UNO, I expected that most of the passengers to be Americans, but there were a wide variety of nationalities within that plane, speaking their own languages with their country fellows. I looked for a place as far as I could, I didn’t want to have small conversation all the flight. I opened my book and started to read it, when an extremely happy voice took me away from my bubble.

- Excuse me are these sits taken

- I begged your pardon…

- If these sits are free

- Yes… go ahead

- Thanks, my name is Claudia Grant

- Lisa Hayes – there was something about Claudia Grant, her lack of military protocol when there was not need for it

- English, isn’t it?

- What make you think so

- First your accent, second “I begged your pardon" but don’t you British said that you are the only ones speaking real English

- Most of them think that – I was one of them

- First time at Macross

- Yes… I’m a little bit nervous; in fact this is my first assignment.

- If I may say, you don’t look as a rookie – I believe my expression confirm that I was not that old – I don’t mean it for age, but… oh Good

- Don’t worry Claudia, I know I look so much older than I really am, is your first time too

- No… I’ve been assigned to the project for over 6 months, but I had to go home for some personal affairs. I hope you left everything in order back home, because I don’t think we will having licenses in a near future.

- Everything is in order, are you from New York.

- Yeah… as New Yorker as Carrie Bradshaw – I had a question mark in my face, because that name didn’t ring the bell – come’n you can be that young, you have to know who is Carrie – I was in blank – from Sex and the City

- No, I’m sorry

- Well I’m the New Yorker girl by excellence

- So Macross City must be a shock, I mean compare with a cosmopolitan city as NY

- Or as London – how did she know I was from London – well is not a military barrel lost in the pacific, that I can assure you, but is not London or NY, it has growth very fast. When I first arrived it was not much, but know the city has started to look as one, when I left two weeks ago.

- Do you have much in duty

- More or least 3 years, I’ve been communications officer – she was an officer, so we had something in common – sin I graduated from Westpoint, I don’t want to brag but I graduated with honours, and immediately I was assigned in a based nearby Canada.

- Have you been… you know in the front?

- I’ve seen my battles, and believe me they are not very pleasant

- Yes, but at the end is the only way to maintain peace

- You sound more like a republican than a British girl, are you sure you are not related to the Bushes

- NOOO... but I belong to a military family, so I haven’t got the opportunity to see something else.

- Don’t tell me you are something of Admiral Hayes

- He is my father – I answered trying not to make a big deal of it.

- Then what are you doing here, I mean he is Great Canyon’s leader

- He is… but I wish to be something more than Admiral Hayes’ daughter.

- And that is precisely what said a lot about you. Having that kind of support and not use it is very rare

- Thank you

- You don’t talk much, isn’t?

- Sorry, what happen is… I’m not used to take with

- Other human beings

- No, most of the time I’ve been surrounded by soldiers, giving my opinion and learning military strategies and procedures, to be honest I haven’t so much friends in my life

- That’s hard to believe, ok you are not Miss Congeniality, but for what I can say right know you are very cool, and attractive you must had your own fans’ club back home, waiting for their opportunity to practice some strategies with you – she winked her eye and in that moment I realized that Claudia Grant was meant to be something very important in my life.

- You are wrong, besides I more interested in helping to reach peace than in getting a boyfriend – for some odd reason that talk was not awkward, as it used to be with other persons.

- Peace starts within us Lisa, not in the rest of humankind

- What a beautiful thought, but not very real, and what about you, do you have an special one in your life.

- Not necessarily, I know a pilot… but, I don’t know, do you how some me collect comics or baseball cards, he collects girls

- And someone like that fancies you?

-There’s something about Roy Fockker

We continued talking all the flight until we arrived to the island, as I said from day one Claudia Grant became a cornerstone in my life, I felt for her a vibe I never felt for Vanessa or even Karl.
