-“¡Kaaarl!”

Her scream woke him up again. Another night of insomnia was going starting and he can’t help it.

Rick was starting to accept that nightmare, that played over and over again in his head.

At first, he thought that was a normal consequence of the impact of the responsibility of the mission on Mars. Obviously it was the first time he had rescued a high officer.

But then, he understood that her behavior during this operation, was his real nightmare.

Commander Hayes, Lisa Hayes, was a stubborn, grumpy and annoying old lady. Yes! He had called her old sourpouss. Doesn’t he?

But that day, when he land his veritech in the hanger of the SDF-1, he had the opportunity of having a close view of her. When she took her helmet off. He saw that she was crying, like a hopeless child in the dark, her esmerald eyes were full of desesperation and then realizing what was she doing, she ran as fast as she could, out of the hangar, without looking back.

At his quarters that night, Rick had been furious. He thought Lisa was an arrogant. They both could have died. He only remember her hurry for leaving the hanger and her stubborn voice arguing him to leave her at Mars.

But then, the cycle of nightmares started and continue night through night.

Just then…. without anger. He began to remember… Her face and the emotions shown in that commanding, but cute ... What!!!!!! Cute???? What had he said!!

Rick arose from his bed and watch Macross artificial sky through his window. Has he really believe Commander Hayes was cute?

He doesn’t know why, but he was beginning to feel uncomfortable with all this situation and specially because of the mix up emotions of tenderness and care he was starting to feel towards her.

Although Lisa, I mean Commander Hayes, was still fighting with him through the tac net and has purposely avoid him when they have encountered several times in the hall, he had to admit that he cares and that her crying image always disturbs him.

It was so confusing and specially now, when he was sad and hopeless.

Minmei was now Miss Macross, and was never available. But, even more terrible, she had not demonstrated any intention to get in touch with him. Why Minmei?

A slow tear travelled slowly from his eyes through his cheek. His lips turned in a sad smile and remember Lisa’s teary eyes.

“Well you always call me mouth loud pilot” -Rick thought- “what about sleepless in love pilot”

“Ummmm!! -he said confused, trying to erase Lisa’s face - “I mean I am obviously refering to Minmei.” Don`t you Rick?”

The sun was arising at that moment, and the first sunrays of the morning were entering through his window. Well …the night has gone, another night without sleeping, another night thinking of Lisa Hayes.
