fanfic = Sun shined through the canopy violently. The skies are filled with Zentreadi battle pods. The Shark squadrons were doing the best they can to defend their ship. While the two veritech pilots assisting the best they can. “We’re running low on ammo sir!” Exclaimed Azrul. “But they’re still coming!” Added Alphonsus. “Keep fending them off! We can’t let them win!” Shouted Azzedy. When the young pilot looked on his port side, he saw 4 pods were locked on Alphonsus’ tail. “Hang on Alph! I’m comin’!” Azzedy wasted no time to clear his tail. He took out two of them but the other two managed to fire on Alphonsus’ aircraft. He was about to bail out when the pods fired another few bolts of lasers towards his fighter causing it to shred into pieces before he could even get out.
Azzedy couldn’t believe his eyes. Then he saw Azrul’s fighter taking heavy fire from several pods from every directions. His fighter then exploded into pieces like Alphonsus’. He then looked around for Jennifer. He found her at last. Just below him. Then his eyes caught several pods heading towards her. He was about to engage the pods when he took some hits on his right wing. Unable to engage, he gave Jennifer some instructions. “Jenny, get out of there! What the hell are you doing?!” Jennifer saw the pods ahead of her. The pods opened fire but she managed to evade them with the spiral maneuver. “I’ve only got 2 stingers left. So I’ve only got one shot at this.” On board the ship, things were quite chaotic as well. Yong, Sheila and June were occupied trying to keep the pilots informed of the enemy’s situation. The captain was busy giving orders to the infantries. “Sergeant Kibawen, status report.” “Sir, port side cannons are taking severe damage and will take approximately 30 minutes to repair.” Damn it! This thing will be over in 15 minutes. Sergeant Azreen, report.” Same here sir. Except that we’ve lost our main cannons. We’re relying on the 50 calibers but we’re running low on am…AAAAAHHH!” as the radio went silent from starport side, Rizal still trying his best to communicate. “Starport side. Do you copy? Sergeant? Azreen?” “Sir, they’re gone.” Said Yong looking extremely exhausted.
“Port side. We’ve lost the starport crew.” That was the only thing that Sheila could manage to tell the crew of the ship and what’s left of their pilots. Alarms and sirens were screaming everywhere on the ship. The numbers of the pods are getting bigger by the minute. Max then tried to radio SDF-1. “This is Vermilion 2 calling SDF-1. Do you read me? We need reinforcements right away. We’re out of ammo and running on fumes. Do you read me?” He was trying to relay a mayday when a pod was about to shoot him out of the sky. Miriya switched to Battloid mode and stepped infront of the blue veritech in order to save her husband. Her fighter was badly damaged and started to fall into the sea below. Max then switched to guardian mode to catch her. They were on their way down when about 6 pods fired upon him. Both the flaming veritechs plunged into the sea heavily.
Azzedy saw how the two lovely coupled that he only met the last 24 hours ended their lives. Suddenly, that brought his attention to Jennifer. He looked down and saw she fired the missiles but only managed to take out two of her targets. The last remaining opened fire on her straight ahead. “Jenny! Bail out! Bail out!” “I’m sorry Eddy I should’ve told you earlier.” As soon as her fighter burst into flames, it started to plunge down towards the sea below. “Jenny! Please bail out. BAIL OUT DAMN IT! PLEASE BAIL OUT DAMN IT!” To no avail, the fighter exploded upon impact. The girls were stunned with the conversation and had no choice to acknowledge the captain that the whole squadron’s wiped out. Azzedy was about to head back towards the ship when he saw a mass number of enemy pods opened fire on the helpless aircraft carrier. Moments later, the carrier exploded into millions of pieces.
With the brightness of the explosion, Azzedy woke up with his body soaked up with cold sweat. After thanking God Almighty that it was just a nightmare, his thought went to Jennifer. His growing affection towards his wing mate was getting more obvious as the war goes on. He couldn’t pop the question to her just yet. He might not like the reaction that she’ll give him later so he thought to give it some time. He got up and showered before getting ready to head out for another mission. With another 2 hours till assembly, they all went to the mess hall for a light breakfast. The shark squadron was in their usual noisy environment when they saw the Sterlings entered the mess hall. Jennifer stood up and yelled to the Sterlings. “Hey Sterlings, come and join us.” The couple smiled and took the offer.
As they sat down they started to get acquainted with the squadron. Max having a chat with the boys while Miriya having a great time with Jennifer. Later, they were joined by the bridge stooges, Yong, Sheila and June. The three sat near Miriya and joined the chat. “Do you guys eat breads and cereals every morning?” Azrul asked Max. He nodded an affirmative. “Dude, here we have lots of other things. Here, try some of mine.” Max took a spoon and scooped some food from Azrul’s plate and tasted it. “Hei, it’s nice. What’s this called?” “It’s called Nasi Le’mak.” He replied. Jennifer then asked Miriya to try some of her noodles. “Here Miriya, I’d bet you’ve never seen these noodles before. It’s originally made from our hometown. It’s called Laksa Sarawak.” Miriya tried some and took a gulp of water because she couldn’t stand the spice. Everyone laughed including Max. “It was hot but it tasted so good.” They laughed and the trio gave her a suggestion. “I think the next time you want to eat these things I’d suggest you bring a whole lot of water.”
“So what’s it like to fly in space?” asked Alphonsus curiously. “It was a scary environment at first but after the first one it was ok. The only thing that we worry is that a slightest damaged could be fatal compare flying on earth.” “Must be weird to fly back on earth right?” Asked Azzedy smirking. “Yeah. It’s totally different but when we survive all this, I’m sure the Robotech force would let you guys fly the veritechs as well.” “You mean if we survive. With Azzedy and Jennifer playing the Romeo and Juliet in the sky, I think we’ll be doomed before we know it.” They all laughed a loud with Azzedy spitted his coffee because he was drinking it but had to laugh at the same time. In the girl’s corner, a slightly more quiet gossip topic was going. “What’s it like to get married in space?” asked June. “Scary I guess.” Was the only thing Miriya could say. “I’ll bet Jennifer wants a wedding on a fighter as well huh?” Sheila said while winking at Jennifer. “C’mon Jenny, don’t let the man wait. Miriya and Max got it on during the war, so can you?” Jenny made a sarcastic laugh then turned her attention to Miriya again. “What’s it like to fly alongside your husband in every combat? I mean is it fun?” Miriya laughed and nodded a yes. “It was so much fun that we made a bet with each other. The bet was on who’ll take care of our daughter on the day off the whole day. Our bets were based on how many pods were shot down by us.”
As the ice breaking and laughing continues, the P.A announced the crew and the pilots to get themselves ready in an hour. “That’s us. See you guys on deck.” The boys went to the boy’s locker room while Jenny and Miriya went to the girls. The bridge stooges reported themselves on the bridge. In the girl’s room, they couldn’t help it looking at Miriya’s flight suit. They were wearing the normal green pressure suits with big bulky straps while Miriya was wearing her red tight flight suit standing in front of her locker detaching the mouthpiece from her helmet which is used only for space flights. Similar situation in the boys room when Alphonsus just had to bother Max. “You guys are aliens. If they ask me to fly those planes of yours, I’ll wear my own helmet.” Max kept the mouthpiece inside his locker and smiled. “This helmet was designed with wireless targeting systems and radios. That’s why we have to wear them. We can use it on every plane on the fleet without having the worries of switching channels or frequency.” Alphonsus just stood up laughed while patting Max on the back. “That’s great story buddy. Let’s go people. We have weirdos to hunt. See you soon Max.” Said the young pilot to his men and gave Max a thumb up before leaving the room. Max replied the thumbs up with a smile. Moments later, they assembled on the flight deck as ordered. After roll calls made, Azzedy briefed the pilots before they manned their planes and wait for their clearance for take off.
“Hey Jenny, what do you make of this recon flight? Any dogfights expected?” asked Azzedy to his wing mate through the com line while fastening his oxygen mask. “I’ve a feeling that they’ll try and give us some hard time but I doubt that we can’t handle them.” These young pilots were never shaken by the fact that they’re enemies are literally bigger than they are. Armed with the RDF’s cluster missiles, they were even more confident with their flying skills. While the shark squadron took their places on the runaway, Captain Rizal took his on the bridge looking down on them. “Girls, status report.” Commanded the captain with his hands behind his back. “Nothing on radar sir.” Answered Sheila firmly. “Flight deck is clear” Answered Yong. “Fighters confirmed ready captain.” Answered June. “Proceed with the mission.” Commanded the captain to the Communications Officer. “Shark squadron you have go. I repeat you have go. Happy hunting.” Ordered June to the fighters. “Roger that bridge. Shark squadron taking off.” As all the hornets took off, Max and Miriya walked towards the flight decks. “Do you think they’ll be alright without us?” asked Miriya. “They’ll be alright. Besides, they survived without us for quite some times. If they need us, they’ll call.” Answered Max calmly. “I can’t wait for this mission to be over. I miss our daughter.” Max held his wife’s hand and look at the sky above them.
2 hours has passed since their take off, they’ve just finished sweeping 40 miles radius away from the carrier. “SJS this is shark leader. We have nothing on sight so far.” Reported Azzedy. June replied an affirmative then looked at their captain. Sheila then picked up something on her radar monitors. “Sir, we have an unidentified readings 60 miles from us bearing 284. Should we ask the fighters to investigate?” Captain Rizal sighed and looked outside the window of the bridge. He was about to give his opinion when another signal showed up. “Sir, we have an alien bogey heading towards our fighters.” “Tell our fighters to identify the bogey. If it’s an enemy scout, they have my permission to engage.” June understood the orders then relay it to the shark squadron. “Shark leader, we have an unidentified bogey comin’ your way.” “Roger that bridge. We have it on our scanners. Azrul you got that?” “Roger I got em’.” “I’ll get to visual some ID while you hook em’.” 2 hours later the lone bogey’s approaching them closer by the minute, Azrul felt suspicious about their reading. “Zedy, you see any trailers?” Azzedy adjusted his scanners in case there’s a glitch. “Negative Azrul. Looks like he’s a single.” “Take it easy Zedy coz I’ve got a bad feeling about this. I’m gonna break hard right to see if he’s really alone.” Azrul and Alphonsus broke off their formation and proceeded to meet the bogey head on above sea level.
To their surprise, not one but four scout pods were right in front of them. “Oh god there’s four of em’! SJS, this is Shark Leader, we have four scout pods I repeat, not one but four scout pods!” Yong received an affirmative nod from the Captain. “Shark leader, you are ordered to engage the pods. Don’t let them tell their mother about you guys or you’re fried.” “Copy that SJS. Shark squadron, you heard her, Let’s get em’.” The fighters engaged the pods. In minutes, they’ve successfully taken out the officer pods with ease despite the escaping attempts shown by the scout pods. “SJS this is shark leader. Enemy threats annihilated.” Back on the carrier, the bridge crew applaud. “Tell the fighters to return to base. We don’t want to press their luck or ours.” The Captain then exited the bridge towards his quarters. Yong didn’t get the chance to respond. “Shark squadron, you are instructed to land, land immediately.” “Shark squadron heading home.” Minutes later, the squadron reached the carrier safely. “SJS, this is shark leader requesting permission to land.” “Shark leader, your squadron is clear for landing. Welcome home.” As all the fighters landed, the pilots got off their fighters cheering for another safe return. Max and Miriya were there and were happy for them as well. Azzedy came to Max smirking. “See, I told you we can handle it.” Max just smiled and put his left arm around Miriya’s shoulder. “Well, I’m impressed Lieutenant. I knew you could do it. As the matter of a fact, I knew all of you could do it.” Jennifer then pulled Azzedy’s arm and thanked the Sterlings for their kind words. She could see the ego inside Azzedy’s eyes.
She pulled him as far as possible so that they couldn’t listen to what she’s about to say. “What’s your problem? Do you have to do that? They’re just being nice and you’re not doing anything like it.” Jenny is now looking more than serious with her helmet still in her left hand. “I was just telling them that we’re as good as they are when it comes to flying.” Azzedy still standing proud even with sweat all over his face after the flight he just had. “You don’t need to do that. Everybody can see that your flying is one hell of a talent. That’s why you’re squad leader. Please, don’t do that again. I’m sick of it.” Jenny was about to leave when Azzedy pulled her arm and into a hug. “You’re right. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.” Jennifer now looking calm looked up to him. “That’s the way. Now let’s get out of this suit and we’ll talk about it with the guys over dinner.” They walked towards their quarters. Max held Miriya tight and walked towards the mess hall. “One more mission and SDF-1 is back on earth.” Miriya smiled to her husband. “Not just the SDF-1, but our daughter and our family.” “Don’t worry Mir, we’ll get this over with very soon. Now, let’s wait for the guys in the mess hall so that we can listen to their story over dinner.”
Meanwhile, up in the bridge the colonel ordered June to connect him to Captain Gloval on board the SDF-1. “SDF-1, this is St. Joseph Carrier calling Captain Gloval. I have Colonel Richard waiting on the line. Do you read?” Up in the space fortress, Sammy received the transmission. “Captain, we have a transmission from Colonel Richard on board the St. Joseph carrier. Would you like to take it in your quarters sir?” “No Sammy, I’ll take it right here.” Sammy patched it through the open communications so that the Captain can speak freely.
“This is Captain Gloval. How’s everything Colonel?” “Everything went well besides the rough welcome my fighters gave yours. I’d like to apologies for that.” He sat down on his seat and folded his arms in front of his chest. “That’s ok colonel. It was my mistake for the sending out the delayed transmission.” “Captain, I’m proud to report that our fighters have successfully completed their reconnaissance flight this morning and have located one of the enemy outposts which was located 80 miles from our current location. Tomorrow we’ll launch an attack on it at1830hrs.” How about the Sterlings? How did they do so far?” “Captain, so far they’re on stand by and they’ll only launch if my fighters are really in trouble. Don’t get me wrong Captain, they’re great pilots and all but you have got to understand my men’s feelings.” Captain sighed and held the tip of his hat with his left hand. “None misunderstanding here at all Colonel, I’m just glad that we could lend a hand.” “Well, if there’s nothing else Captain, I’d like to sign off now.” “Nothing from me right now colonel and thank you for your report.” “You’re most welcome sir. I’ll keep you posted on tomorrow’s mission. Colonel Richard signing off” As the communicator was switched off, the Captain took a deep sigh.
“I guess Max and Miriya are relaxing down there huh?” said Claudia to Lisa who was checking her monitors. “I don’t know, I guess they can’t wait to get this over with. I mean they can’t wait to see Dana again.” “So how’s your night with Lieutenant Hunter last night?” asked Claudia in her teasing voice. Lisa didn’t answer that question but trying hard not to blush about it.
As if on cue, Rick came on her monitor. “This is Vermilion 1, my area is secured. Waiting for orders.” Lisa blushed furiously and frowned. Claudia couldn’t help it and laughed aloud. “Was it something I said?” asked the confused pilot looking at her from the monitor. “Why does he have the wrong time to show up?” asked Lisa murmuring to herself. “Somebody’s blushing badly.” On her other screen, Roy came up. “Knock it off Commander Fokker. The two of you are clear for landing.” The two pilots saluted and went off monitors simultaneously. As soon as they’ve landed, Rick and Roy ran into Ben who just got back from his patrol run. “Hei Ben, how’s your side of the world?” “The usual I guess. Hei, I’ve heard that we’ll hit earth tomorrow. Is it true?” “Only if the Sterlings pull it off but I’m sure they’ll do just fine.” “Roy, what was that all about on the bridge?” The pilots were walking back to their quarters when an announcement by Sammy was on the P.A. “Lieutenant Hunter, to Commander Hayes’ office, Lieutenant Hunter, to Commander Hayes’ office.” “Now what?” Rick now looked even more confused. “Maybe you’ll get your answer after all.” Answered Roy sarcastically. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” Rick took a slow jog towards Lisa’s office. He just realized that he was still in his flight suit when he reached her office. He knocked the door and Lisa asked him to come in. She was expecting him anyway.
When he got inside, Lisa was sitting on the corner of her desk with both of her feet hanging from the floor. “Lieutenant Hunter reporting as ordered ma’am.” Lisa smiled and giggled while ordering him to stand down. “After what happened on the bridge just now I just had to see you.” Rick slowly walked towards Lisa and held her hands. “Now that you’ve mentioned it, what was that all about on the bridge earlier?” “Claudia was teasing me about you when you came on the monitor as soon as she mentioned your name. Isn’t that silly?” “Not as silly as I’m still wearing my flight suit coming in here.” “It is considered as a uniform.” Answered Lisa like a five year old girl. “Dinner in 30 minutes?” Asked Rick smiling. “Sure. If you’re planning to dine in that flight suit of yours I wouldn’t mind at all.” Rick blushed until he was speechless.
Back on the carrier, the pilots were enjoying themselves talking about the mission over dinner. “It was the first time we made a record of 4 minutes destroying two alien pods.” Boasted Azzedy. “Actually it was 3 minutes and 50 seconds.” Interrupted Azrul. “How long does it take usually to take out one pod. Averagely I mean.” Asked Miriya with her hands supporting her chin on the table. “About 5 minutes.” Answered Alphonsus with his mouth full of food. “Actually 4 and a half and dude, please chew your food. You looked disgusting.” interrupted Azzedy. “The last time we were in a dogfight with those things, Azzedy pulled off one hell of a move when two pods were in persuit of him until he braked in mid air. Those two overshot to the front colliding with each other. It was his signature moves ever since our academy days.” Explained Jennifer while pulling Azzedy’s arm into hers. “Get a room you two!” Exclaimed Azrul while faking disgusted look on his face. “That’s why we were known as the Borneo Aces.” He added. It was minutes later when the loud speaker announced that they were asked to report to the briefing room as soon as possible.
The pilots moved from the mess hall towards the briefing room. Once they’ve reached there, the Azzedy ordered the pilots to an attention. Once the captain ordered them to be seated, the colonel started to brief them on their next assignment. “Now as you all know, we’ve located one of the enemy’s outposts within 100 miles radius of our current location. Well, tomorrow we’ll launch an assault on it. It’s time for us to strike. Lieutenant Azzedy, you and Lieutenant Jennifer will take out the outpost while Lieutenant Azrul and Lieutenant Alphonsus will lead the squadron to keep the pods away from you. The time’s limited so there’s no room for error. We have only one chance. If we fail this, the SDF-1 can’t make it back to earth and we’ll be doomed. We’ll launch at 0700hrs. Any questions?” Jennifer stood up “Sir, any idea of how many pods we’ll encounter?” “I knew you’ll come up with that question.” As Jennifer seated. “Our intelligence reported that the outpost we’ve located is just one of their rendezvous point. Our scanners detected at least 20 pods. Now, as for back up, the veritechs will be on stand by. As soon as your squadron is airborne, the carrier will move towards the location so that as soon as the assault completes, we’ll capture the area. Only then we can acknowledge the SDF-1 that the area is secured. Any more questions?” All the pilots looked at one another to see if anyone has a question. “If there’s nothing else you are dismissed.” Azzedy ordered an attention and saluted the Colonel. As soon as the salute was returned, the squadron moved out of the room.
The Sterlings were about to head towards their quarters when Azzedy caught up with them. “Guys, why don’t you join us in the recreational hall. It’s still 2 hours from lights out.” Miriya whispered to Max. “What are they recreating?” Max held his laugh and whispered back. “They’re recreating new wives.” Miriya’s eyes grew wide and pushed Max before walking away. Max laughed and caught Miriya’s hand and explain it to her. Azzedy stood there confused with the couples’ actions. “Mir, I was just kidding. Recreational means something fun and relaxing.” Miriya convinced with her husband’s explaination and apologized to him. “Mir, I’m the one suppose to be sorry. I shouldn’t have made that joke in the first place.” Azzedy scratched his head and approach the two pilots. “Ok, I don’t know what that was all about, but we’ll be in the recreational hall and you’re welcome to join us.” “We’ll be delighted.” All of them entered the Hall and they ran into the bridge stooges playing a game of pool. Miriya was impressed with the environment. Max joined the boys playing a game of fusball while Miriya joined the girls playing pool.
“So what’d you do on your free time Miriya?” asked Sheila. “I’ll spend most of it with our daughter. That’s the only time we could spend with her. Otherwise, Max and I will go and hang around with our friends.” Jennifer then walked next to Miriya passing her the cue. “C’mon Miriya. Shoot some pool.” Miriya still puzzled with the object in her hand. She did saw how the girls played it but she still couldn’t understand the game yet. “It’s easy, just shoot the white ball towards the colored ones.” Came June from behind patting her shoulder. Max was having a great time chatting with his new mates. But he couldn’t help not to notice how Miriya was enjoying herself playing with the girls. His amazement was interrupted by Azrul’s question. “I’m sorry. What was it?” Azrul couldn’t help it but laughed at him. “C’mon Max, don’t tell me you can’t stay away from your wife. She’s only ten meters away.” Max blushed a little then joined in the laughter. “I was askin’, what squadron you’re in?” continued Azrul.
“Miriya and myself are from the Vermilion squadron. We’ve four pilots in our group including us down here. The other two are Lt. Ben Dixon and our squad leader Lieutenant Rick Hunter.” Somehow the name got the attention of Azzedy. Max then continued. “Before the group was formed, we were flying with the Skull Squadron led by Commander Roy Fokker.” That name even gave Azzedy some thoughts. “Could it be them?” He asked himself. “Damn I’m good!” Exclaimed Alphonsus after beating both Azreen and Kibawen playing Fusball. He then invited Max to play. At first max declined but Alphonsus insisted him to play him one game. “C’mon Max. Since you’re the rookie on this boat, I’ll let you take the first score easy.” Max got up from the chair and headed towards the table. “If you insist. Please do go easy on me. It’s been a while since I’ve played this.” It was only a minute the game began and max scored the first shot. “Lucky shot.” Said Max smiling with his right hand on his head. “2 out of 3 shots. What do you say?” invited Alphonsus. Max just nodded a yes and they resumed. Like the first one but just less than 5 minutes, Max scored 2 shots with Alphonsus scored nothing. “Nobody has beaten me before.” Kibawen and Azreen patted his back and giggled. “That’s ok. Somebody had to lose someday.” The boys laughed together until Captain Rizal showed up.
Azzedy ordered an attention. Rizal then ordered a carry on and everyone resumed what they were doing. “What’s goin’ on here people? I assumed that somebody was mocking me again?” Rizal took a seat next to Azzedy. “No sir, we were just teasing Alphonsus because he just got beaten by the guy he called ‘rookie’ on this boat.” Answered Kibawen pretending to sound sad. “Is that right Lieutenant? Finally we can celebrate the beginning of Alphonsus’ losing streak. Drinks and snacks are on me boys.” The boys were just about to get their treats from the lounge when Jennifer and the girls stood in front of them with their arms folded in front of their chest. “Aren’t we’re invited?” Jenny asked pretending to be upset. “Of course ladies, join in.” The captain invited with his sincere smile.
Alphonsus handed them each a meat on sticks. “You guys should try some of these. It’s our traditional delicacies. It’s called Sate’. The Sterlings tried it and they liked it. “Don’t worry, there’s more where that came from. Here, dip it in this sauce and it’ll taste even better.” Max liked it but Miriya had to get a glass of water because it was too spicy for her. “I forgot to tell you it’s made of spice herbs and blended peanuts.” They laughed and joked all night until the captain had to stop them because it was time for lights out. The crew obeyed the order and dismissed from the hall. After saying their good byes and good nights to one another, all of them headed towards their quarters. Max and Miriya were walking while holding each other’s hands. “Just a little while till the SDF-1’s return and we’ll get to see our daughter.” Said Miriya resting her head on Max’s shoulder.
The Colonel then contacted the SDF-1 to confirm them the next day’s time and details of the assault. “So Captain, the fighters are well prepared and once it’s completed, we’ll acknowledge you.” “That’s a very commendable strategy Colonel, but are you sure they’re able to strike the enemy on their own?” The colonel sighed deeper. “I understand your concern Captain, but you have to understand our situation here. The morale of my pilots is at stake here.” “Very well colonel, I’ve faith in you like the first mission. Is there anything else you’d like to add colonel?” “That would be all sir. Colonel Richard signing off.” As the communication was closed, Lisa voiced her opinion. “Captain, with all due respect, the pilots on the carrier were indeed the best but they’re still lack of experience battling with the Zentreadi.” The Captain got off his chair and was about to leave the bridge he replied to Lisa’s opinion. “I know what you’re thinking Commander Hayes, but we have to respect their decisions as well. We’ll brief Commander Fokker and Lieutenant Hunter of the mission first thing in the morning. Now if there’s anything I’ll be in my quarters.” Lisa saluted the captain as he walked out of the bridge.
“Do you think the fighters will be able to pull it off?” asked Claudia from behind. “God knows. But should they run into trouble, Max and Miriya will be there.” Meanwhile, Roy, Rick and Ben were on their way back to their own quarters. “So it doesn’t mean that I’ve been flying in space so long that I can’t fly on earth anymore.” “Don’t get so tense Rick. I was just teasing you. Isn’t that right Ben?” “Yeah, you worry so much boss. Is there anything wrong with you and Commander Hayes? Because that’s always the case when you’re so jumpy.” Roy laughed aloud but Rick blushed furiously. “Do you have to take note of unnecessary things?” Replied Rick raising his voice. “Now, now Rick. Ben was just teasing you. There’s nothing to be upset about. That is if you really are upset.” “It’ll be even worse if Max was here.” Replied Rick shaking his head. “Isn’t that the point why Commander Fokker and my self are still here with you?” The two men continued laughing and teasing until they’re parted for their respective quarters. Rick was about to climb on his bed when he suddenly thought of Dana. He left his quarters and left for Jean’s quarters. When he got there, Jean opened the door with her finger in front of her lips signaling Rick to be quiet as she was holding Dana who was asleep in her arms. She invited him in. They chatted while looking at the adorable sleeping beauty.
At the same time, on board the carrier, Azzedy found it’s hard to sleep as the name of the Skull Leader and the Vermilion Leader were playing in his head. He turned on his MP4 player and randomly selected his music. He was still wondering why the names are so familiar. It was as if he has met them before. As he was getting tired of thinking, his eyes gave up and he fell asleep.
