Fanfic: As the rain continued to drop heavily, Jennifer was in the bathroom putting on her uniform when her husband gave her a hug from behind. She sighed as she pushed his arms away slowly and continued to button her uniform. When she was done, Azzedy walked in front of her. She looked at him and arched an eyebrow. “Let’s go or we’re going to be late.” He was about to put his arms around her waist when she turned away towards the door to put on her shoes.  
She was standing by the door when he got her cornered her against the door while holding her arms. He was trying not to sound harsh at her as this was the first time he encountered this situation. “Now what’s with you? You’ve been acting strange since our dinner last night.” “It’s nothing. C’mon, let me go or we’re gonna be late.” She tried to sound calmly as if nothing happened. “I don’t see it as nothing.” She was starting to get angry and raised her voice a little. “I said it’s nothing and let me go.” He shook his head and smiled at her. “No dice. I ain’t gonna let go until you’ll tell me what is wrong?” “Commander Chase will be angry if we’re late. Oh I forgot, she won’t be mad at you because you liked her.” Azzedy burst his laugh and released her while he landed on the couch. 
Jennifer crossed her arms as Jack knock on their door telling them that they’re needed in the briefing room in 30 minutes. “Well, we’ll see about that.” “C’mon, I told you there’s nothing between me and Chase.” She didn’t bother to listen but went out of the quarters as her husband followed her. “Well, must be one of those months I guess.” He told himself. They went down to the mess hall and ate their breakfast quietly.  
Jack and Izzy saw how those two were acting and it was kind of a strange to see them being quiet with each other. Azzedy was smiling as usual but Jennifer weren’t even looking at him. Jack cleared his throat as he had to start a conversation somehow. “You guys heard? The rebel raids ratings were getting higher every day?” Azzedy just smiled at them and gave them his thought. “I’ve a feeling that there’s an uprising or some sort. But I couldn’t put my finger on it just yet. What do you think sweetie?” “We’ll just do our job regardless what happening with them.” Jennifer was looking at her coffee cup when she answered him. Jack stood up and told them that they should be heading to the briefing room.  
The weather in Macross City was similar with Base 6 and so is the situation. Rick was on his way back from his routine patrol when he called in for landing. He hoped that he’ll see Lisa on the tech channel but instead, he saw Sammy. “Sammy, where’s Lisa?” “Captain Hayes is on leave today. She said that she doesn’t feel so good today.” Rick sighed and looked at view of the SDF-1 in front of him. “Do you have any idea where she went?” “I’m sorry Captain Hunter. I’ve no idea where she is.” “That’s ok. I’ve completed my route for the day and requesting permission to land.” “Permission granted.” As soon as he landed, he directly went to the locker to change into his uniform before he went off to search for Lisa. 
He went to see Claudia and asked her if she knew where Lisa is. “I don’t know Rick. She wasn’t herself this morning and she asked the Admiral for the rest of the day off. Is there anything I should know about what’s going on with the two of you?” “Why don’t we talk this over lunch? I’m buying.” Claudia accepted his offer and headed towards a nearby café. While having their lunch, Rick explained to her what happened. “So you see, it’s just another misunderstanding which was made worst by me.”  
Claudia let out a small laugh and Rick gave her an annoyed look. “I’m sorry Rick, but I’ve got to say that both of you are at fault at the moment.” “Rick looked at his plate and murmured a yes. “If you want to fix it, you’re gonna have to tell her everything she needed to know.” “What if she refuses to listen? You know how stubborn she could be?” She lets out another small laugh and looked at him while her hands supporting her chin. “Both of you are the most stubborn people I’ve ever encountered. It’s now or never Rick.” Rick nodded and looked up to her. “But where can I find her?” “Remember the time when you saw her having lunch with the captain from the Earth Forces? You waited for her near the bridge’s entrance.”  
A smile started to creep up Rick’s face and she was glad to see it. He paid for the lunch and thanked her before he went back to the base. Suddenly he thought of an idea to get Lisa to come to him.  
Lisa was going around Macross City while trying to ditch her awful thoughts of Rick and Minmei. As she was strolling around, she saw the Sterlings were playing with little Dana in one of the department store. She even imagined that it was Rick and herself in the picture with their child. As she was hallucinating, her cell phone rang. She took it out from her hand bag and looked at the number. It was from the SDF-2’s bridge line.  
When she answered it, Sammy told her that they needed her right away as they were having problems with organizing the database. Before she hung up, she told Sammy that she’ll be there in ten minutes. “Well, so much for a half day off.” As soon as she got there, she saw Vanessa was still on her radar panel with Kim on the communication line while Sammy was at the commanding post. “What seems to be the problem girls?” Sammy turned around and saluted her. After Lisa returned it, Sammy gave her a nervous smile. “Captain Hayes, I’d like to apologize for bothering your day off ma’am.” “That’s alright, now what seems to be the problem Lieutenant?” Sammy gave Lisa a childish looks and pointed towards the doorway.  
Lisa turned around to see what it was and saw something that she didn’t expect as her anger was rising inside her. “How could I miss that?” she thought to herself. She couldn’t be angry with the girls because she knew it wasn’t their fault and she doesn’t want to involve any of them in this. She approached him with her hands on her hips. “Well Captain, I see that you were abusing your authority with my personnel?” Rick smiled at her with his hands behind his back while leaning against the wall next to the entrance. 
She was about to let her anger out when Rick stepped towards her and handed over a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate to her while saying a soft “I’m sorry and please hear me out”. She looked at him as her anger was replaced with a feeling sympathy for the man she loved so much.  
He cleared his throat before starting his explanation in a very soft voice. “I was worried about you when the Zentreadi Armada attacked earth. She came to the flight deck and gave me a kiss while I was on my way to my fighter. You’ve gotta believe me Lisa. She kissed me but I didn’t return it. Please, you’ve got to believe me.”  
The girls looked at the scene over their shoulders while trying not to make it obvious. Lisa looked at him and felt terrible for not giving him any chance to explain at all. She tried to hide her emotions by keeping her serious professional tone. “Anyways Captain, you’ve misused your authority with my personnel and there for, you’ll be punished.” Rick gulped for a while waiting for Lisa to finish her words. “I hereby punish you by doing the cooking tonight and to give the girls the box of chocolates. But I’ll be taking the flowers if you don’t mind.”  
Rick let out a sigh of relief as he passed her the flowers and the box of chocolate. After Lisa gave the girls the chocolates, she winked at the girls before she commanded Rick to follow her leave the bridge. On their way out, they were passing the mess hall. Rick saw Claudia was coming out of it and gave her a thumb up. Claudia smiled and waved to him and walked away because she doesn’t want Lisa to know that she was involved in the plan. 
Outside the base, the rain started to die off. As they were walking towards the grocery store, Lisa pulled his arm into hers. “Amazing move you did back there Captain Hunter. I should’ve known it was your plan then I would’ve not shown up.” Rick looked at her and kissed her hair. “Thank you for believing in me.
