Fanfic: Chapter 5 
 
Ronnie’s Veritech locked into the wild cat. “Wolf squadron, Stand by for take off.” Lisa’s voice said over the open air radio.  
“Rodger that.” Ronnie replied Ronnie took this rare moment of rest took look out at the Earth at the end of the runway. Ronnie drifted into thought; it has now been one year to the month since that day he was sucked into the black hole. Ronnie had been shot out of the black hole just out side of Earth’s atmosphere and thirty three years into the past, he saved Roy Fokker. 
Ronnie met a beautiful young lady named Kim Young, Their relationship started out ruff, but over the last four months they had fallen deeply in love with each other. And now there were some micronized Zentraedi living on the SDF-1; Max Sterling even married a micronized female Zentraedi worrier named Miriya. 
“Wolf squad you are clear for take off.” Lisa said. 
“Wolf leader taking off.” Ronnie said, saluting the tech on the flight deck, and then speeding off down the runway. Once in space, Wolf squadron fell into formation and pulled in behind Skull squad. Roy was still Skull Leader, but Rick Hunter was promoted to Skull-2, and Max Sterling was promoted to Vermillion Leader and his wife Miriya was assigned Vermillion-2. 
Minmei’s song was playing over the radio, but her singing stopped while she kissed Kyle, this was to add to the shock affect of Dolza’s grand army that was unaccustomed to males and females interacting together. 
This was the signal for all veritechs to begin their attack. Roy’s voice came over the radio “Ok, boys and girls, ATTACK!” 
 
All the Veritechs launched off into space to meet the enemy’s battle pods. “Wolf Pack, fallow me to sector C-4 to intercept the new wave of battle pods.” Ronnie said to Jeff and Riley. Both men fallowed the orders and changed their heading to sector C-4. 
Rick pulled his veritech around behind two enemy pods chasing Roy. “I got them.” Rick said launching a couple of sidewinder missiles blowing up both battle pods in and spectacular flash of orange and yellow light. Rick let out a deep breath and looked for his next target. 
Max raced into a swarm of attacking battle pods, firing his Gatling gun several of the pods broke out of formation to avoid the rain of gun fire coming their way, Miriya flew into position from Max’s 3 O’ Clock position firing a series of heat seeking missiles destroying several of the battle pods that pulled out of formation. Max quickly switched to battloid diving head first and pulling out his Gatling gun, Max fired one of his impulse thrusters sending his battloid into a spin firing his gun Max spun through a hole in the middle of the pod’s formation destroying several of the pods, with Miriya picking off any that survived.  
“Carry the two; yep that’s twenty three for me, not a bad start.” Max said with a bit of cockiness in his voice, Miriya’s face appeared in one of Max’s monitors “I would almost be impressed; if I hadn’t already shot down twenty eight… make that twenty nine pods.” Miriya said kissing the palm of her hand and blowing it into the monitor.  
Rick was being chased by a couple of battle pods, switching into guardian mode, Rick pulled the feet out in frond of the nose of his Veritech opening both of the foot thrusters Abruptly slowing down his forward momentum his body jerked forward his seat belt keeping him from smashing into the front of his control panel. Both pods rocketed past Rick’s Veritech as Rick was slammed backwards into his seat, Switching into battloid Rick pulled out his Gatling gun firing and blowing up both Battle pods. 
“Well that should… AAAAAAAA!” Rick yelled as several heat seeking missiles locked onto Ricks battloid. Rick pulled the Battloid’s legs forward thrusting him backwards, Rick shot down several of the missiles but he did not have enough time to shoot all of them down. In a panic Rick brought both of his Battloid’s arms together in front of him using a new shield Dr. Lang added to the new heavy duty Veritech’s. Dr. Lang was able to add the Shields and extra fire power based on the research he performed on Ronnie’s Alpha Veritech from the future. The explosion of three remaining missiles violently rocked Rick’s Veritech, sending him into a daze. 
Ronnie’s Veritech swooped down on the lead Zentraedi Destroyer ship, the bottom of his Veritech practically scrapping the top of the destroyer, blowing up several guns along the way. 
“Watch your six Wolf Leader.” Riley’s voice came across the radio, Ronnie cut his thrusters off and pulled up, his Veritech started back flip rotation his momentum still pulling him forward, one Ronnie’s Veritech was upside down Ronnie fired his sidewinder missiles destroying the pursuing battle pods once Ronnie’s Veritech finished it’s flip and righted it’s self Ronnie fired up his thrusters and sped off. 
Rick shook his head regaining his composure, there were several alarms whistling inside Rick’s cock pit, Checking his schematic read outs and looking around outside his view port he could see the shield saved his Veritech from being destroyed completely, but he still took on some pretty severe damages and would not be able to return to battle. Earth’s gravity grabbed a hold of Rick’s Veritech and started to pull him down towards the devastated Earth below. Rick switched into fighter mode, and put down his heat shield. 
“Phew it’s getting cooler already.” Rick thought to himself, once inside the Earth’s atmosphere Rick’s radio cut out and he no longer had any contact with the SDF-1. Rick looked out over the Earth; his body was struck with pure horror “It’s horrible...” Rick’s thought were cut off by the sound of a female’s voice crackling through the open radio waves. “Can… Hear…Me… This is Commander Lisa Hays, can anyone hear me?” Rick’s heart pounded in his chest, his palms started to sweat, Rick tried to speak but his mouth was dry… he was caught between pure joy that Lisa was alive, and fear by the sound of her voice… Was she hurt…? Were her injuries fatal? “Lisa, it’s me.” Rick finally replied.

Back on the bridge of the SDF-1Claudia turned to face Admiral Gloval “Admiral, one of the enemy destroyers is moving into position to ram us Sir.” She said. Gloval stood and folded his hands behind his back.  
“Sammy, perform Commander Hays’s Daedalus maneuver.” Gloval commanded, Sammy opened her intercom and started ordering Destroids to feel the front of the Deadalus, and the Omni barriers system to move into position. 
Once the Zentraedi Destroyer came into position Sammy performed the Deadalus maneuver created by Lisa Hays. 
“Ronnie look, a second ship is heading for the SDF-1.” Jeff’s voice said over the Radio Ronnie looked over his shoulder there was a full size Zentraedi baring down on the SDF-1 from behind, it was aimed right for the Bridge. 
“Removing the Deadalus arm now…” Sammy started to say, when suddenly several alarms sounded in the bridge. 
“Admiral, a second enemy vessel is heading right for the bridge.” Claudia yelled out her mind struck with fear. Admiral Gloval’s head snapped over to Claudia’s station 
“Do we have time for another Deadalus maneuver?” Gloval asked 
“Claudia shook her head no “We wouldn’t even be able to turn the ship in enough time let alone re-arm all the Destroids.” She replied. 
Suddenly Ronnie’s face appeared on Sammy’s monitor.  
“Sammy, can Claudia lock onto their impulse reactor furnace?” He asked. 
Over hearing his conversation, Claudia punched a few buttons and ran over to Sammy. 
“I have them locked in Captain, what do you have in mind?” Claudia asked. 
Ronnie pulled back on his control stick sending his Veritech into a steep climb 
“Patch them through to my targeting system.” Ronnie ordered, reaching a certain height Ronnie cut his jets once again performing a back flip, but this time once he was upside down and facing where he just came from he opened his hit thrusters and shot back towards the Zentraedi Cruiser still barreling towards the SDF-1 bridge. Suddenly a Red arrow appeared on Ronnie’s cockpit viewer locked onto the Impulse Reactor indicating Claudia had fallowed Ronnie’s request. Ronnie set his Veritech on course for the Target indicated, and slowly increased his thrusters. 
“Admiral, Wolf Leader is diving right at the enemy Cruiser and increasing speed.” Sammy reported. Gloval walked over meeting Claudia at Sammy’s station. 
“What is he doing? His speeds are reaching dangerous levels.” Claudia exclaimed a little louder then she meant, this caught Kim’s attention, and she raced over to see what was happening. 
“What is he doing?” Kim asked. 
Claudia thought for a moment her eyes widening is fear as she finally realized his plans. 
“He is going to blow up their reactor.” She exclaimed. 
“But his missiles will they cause enough damage to blow it up?” Kim asked. 
“Only if they are launched with the force of the Veritech at full thrusters.” Ronnie’s voice came over the com system indicating he over heard their entire conversation. 
“But at that speed, you will black out before can fire.” Kim exclaimed clearly worried. 
“It is a risk I have to take.” Ronnie said winking het Kim’s image in his monitor. 
“DAM YOU FLOYD!” Kim yelled, “WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE A HERO?!”  
Ronnie’s face became very serious, a he increased thruster power to seventy five percent, the G-Force was sending all of the blood to the back of his body and out of his brain, Ronnie felt cold and numb his body starting to tingle, it became very hard for him to focus or even think. 
“I have never tried to be a hero.” Ronnie started to say his voice very calm “I must do this to save my fellow military brother and sisters who fight along side me… For the safety of all of the Civilians on board the SDF-1… All of you on the bridge are the closest thing to a family I will ever have… And for you Kim… I Love you.” Ronnie increased his thrusters to eighty five percent.  
Kim just started crying “NOOO!” she yelled out 
Ronnie locked his thrusters into one hundred percent, his vision started to blur and darken around the edges… he was just about to black out when he heard Kim’s voice over the radio. 
“The answer is yes, so you better come back to me.” Ronnie had no time to talk to Kim before this battle so he left a ring box on her station keyboard within it was a three diamond engagement ring. Ronnie shook his head hearing her say yes she would marry him, and suddenly the darkness moved to the edge of his view enough for him to see the Zentraedi Cruiser below he was in the perfect line. 
“NOW!” Ronnie yelled firing all his sidewinder missiles waiting a moment then firing every missile he had left, throwing his Veritech into a spin he held the trigger down firing every round of his Gatling gun held. 
The Zentraedi Cruiser rumbled down both sides and then exploded into a brilliant flash of light; everyone on the bridge put their hands up in front of their face protecting their eyes from the bright light of the explosion. 
Sammy turned quickly to her station. 
“Wolf Leader comes in… This is the SDF-1 come in…” There nothing but static, no replied form Wolf Leader, nor could anyone see his Veritech where the Enemy Cruiser use to be. 
“He was a self less man, and a great Pilot… I am so sorry Kim.” Admiral Gloval said, Kim fell to her knees completely collapsing to the ground and started crying her eyes out.

Rick’s Veritech in Guardian mode slid to a stop, and ejected the shattered canopy, Rick and Lisa stood in the cock pit holding each other. 
“It looks like the fighting has stopped.” Lisa said pointing to the sky. 
Rick looked up and saw the explosions were stopping. 
“I wonder if anyone survived.” Lisa said as more of a statement then a question. 
“What do you mean?” Rick asked. 
“It would be a shame, if we were the only ones left.” Lisa said leaning more of her weight into Rick’s arms. 
“That wouldn’t be that bad, at least you would never be alone.” Rick said looking down at Lisa, they stared into each for a moment, Rick placed his hand on Lisa’s cheek and slowly Moved in and Kissed Lisa. After a moment of shock, Lisa forced her defenses down and melted her body into Rick’s and she increased the passion in the kiss, searching his mouth with her tongue. Rick pulled back suddenly 
“Do you hear that?” Rick asked 
Lisa listened for a moment then her eyes shot for the sky “its Minmei’s singing.” She said. 
“Then that means the SDF-1 survived.” Rick said suddenly pointing “There.” 
Lisa fallowed Rick’s figure to see the SDF-1 settle down a few hundred yards off in the distant. 
Rick sat down in the Pilots seat and Lisa sat sideways in his lap, then the two of them sped off towards the SDF-1.

The next day Lisa walked in to the Hospital, to check on her friend; Kim was lying in the bed in the corner she hadn’t spoken since Ronnie sacrificed his life to save everyone’s on the SDF-1. She hadn’t eaten for several hours and show signs of physical weakness. The Doctors said she was in a mental state of lock down, she had been placed in such shock… the horror of what she had just watched before her eyes, she has close off the world around her. 
Sammy and Vanessa ran over and gave Lisa a huge when she walked into the room. 
“How is she doing? Max told Rick and me everything that had happened with the ring and Ronnie’s heroic sacrifice.” Lisa said. 
Both girls looked back at Kim who was huddled up in a ball on the bed. 
“Not good.” Sammy said, for the first time since Lisa had met Sammy there was sorrow in her voice. 
Suddenly Kim cried out. “WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DIE!!!” she yelled sitting up, then folding her legs, and barring her face in her hands she started crying uncontrollably. 
All three girls ran over to Kim’s bedside to comfort her, and ran out to the Nurses desk to get a doctor.  
After being checked over by the doctor, Kim looked over to Lisa, “I am glad you are ok.” Lisa smiled and rubbed Kim’s hand. 
Suddenly the doors to the ER swung open, and three doctors ran over to a team pushing a gurney in with an injured pilot. 
“What do we have here?” one of the doctors asked. 
“Pilot, his Veritech just crashed to Earth ten minutes ago, it was a mess blood every, the face mask of his helmet was shattered into his face, but he is breathing barley. 
Rick jumped to the side letting them push the gurney with the injured pilot into the nearest surgery room. Lisa, Sammy, and Vanessa met Rick at Kim’s door. After saying their goodbyes the four of then headed to the SDF-1 to meet with Admiral Gloval to work on a plan of rebuilding a city and moving all the civilians out of the SDF-1.
