“What happened?” Claudia exclaimed.
“Oh some jerks hit on me and some guy came to my rescue. That’s all. Well I did get a few punches in.”
“Oh, honey. What am I going to do with you?”
“Well let’s go have dinner and talk about what we’re going to do tomorrow…”
With a staunch look on her face Claudia interrupted her, “Sorry to break the news to you but I can’t go out with you tomorrow…I got a new assignment and have to fly out to Colorado at 0800 tomorrow. I’ll be gone for 3 weeks.”
“OH Damn!” Lisa said with a pout.
“But you are welcomed to stay here for the remainder of your vacation. Oh come on Lisa…”
Lisa starred out into the window with her back turned to Claudia.
“It’s so beautiful here. At least stay to enjoy it. No one is here to bother you.”
“Oh alright. But you better send me a postcard.” She said sternly.
“That’s my girl,” Claudia gave her a warm hug.
“Let’s go eat. There’s this great Italian restaurant I’ve been dying to try.”
Lisa couldn’t sleep as she turned on the couch she looked at her watch sitting on the coffee table.
“4:06 AM. Uhhh.” She moaned.
Lying there after another 10 minutes she got up and wrote Claudia a note and stuck it on the bathroom mirror.
Couldn’t sleep.
Went to see sunrise.
If I don’t see you
Have a good trip
-Lisa
Breathing heavily he stopped at the cove. That was a good run. He loved coming to the beach early morning to run. No one was ever there. His thoughts wandered to yesterday.
“…There’s this move my big brother taught me and it’s really simple as long as you used to going at a fast speed, you have to have special suit so the blood stays up your head, but you know that. Really it’s a simple booster climb,” He had said it in one breath and noticed Lisa just casually listening to him. For a second he lost his train of thought…realizing how pretty she was
“Is something the matter?…Tell me more about this Booster climb.” Lisa asked.
“Oh nothing…I..uh had a brainfart,” and continued on.
She’s so cool. “Too bad I’m not going to see her again…(he stepped down the rocks) Elizabeth?” he mumbled under his breath.
She hadn’t noticed him. She had a tissue in her hand and was dabbing her eyes underneath her sunglasses. She had been crying. Not wanting to alarm her he took a few steps back out of sight and began to sing outloud:
Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
Watching the Tides Roll Away…ohhh yea
Sitting on the Dock of the Baby wasting time.
Lisa turned around and noticed Ace and shoved her tissue back in her satchel.
Rick pretended to look surprise, “Heeey, you. Fancy meeting you here like this. Did ya come to see the sunrise?”
She didn’t answer only nodded.
Feeling a bit like he was intruding, ‘Okay, awkward,’ then swinging his hands back and forth. He began to walk away.
“OH no don’t go,” she said gently. “Stay and watch with me. I don’t own this rock.”
They sat there in silence after about another 15 minutes as the sun rose and then continued to sit in silence for another 10 mins.
Rick couldn’t help but glance sideways at her every now and then. He wanted to break the silence but knew she wanted some quiet. It felt nice just sitting here not talking. It was peaceful. He had brought Stephanie Polanski here once. Justin had introduced them at a gathering. All she did was yap yap yap away. He couldn’t even enjoy the sun rising.
“Yea, this is nice,” he said out loud.
“Sorry?” Lisa replied.
“Umm…sorry for breaking the silence. I was telling myself that this is nice watching the sunrise in silence. I really liked that. Something’s you just have to kinda revel in it. Enjoy the moment for what it is ya know?”
“Yeah! I like that. You didn’t tell me you were a philosopher too?” Lisa impressed by his observation.
“My older brother says I have a lot of opinions about stuff. Some girls just think it’s weird,” making a sour face.
“I think its says a lot. It says you’re a deep thinker.” complimented Lisa.
“Thanks.” Blushing unable to say anything.
Lisa grinned. She realized there was something refreshing in their conversation; A youthfulness she liked. He didn’t really seem to be flirting with her and he didn’t have any annoying comeback lines to try and impress her. He was actually having a conversation with her.
“Are you still going sight seeing with your girlfriend today?”
“Oh no. She wasn’t up for it. She has a lot of work.”
“What do you do?” he asked.
“Oh…um…I do some flight logistics.” She said slowly.
“Not sure what that word logistics means. You an engineer?” attempting to figure it out.
“Something like that. Actually I make sure the planes land safely and get to where they are going on time.”
“Cool. Like an air traffic controller.”
“Yeah. Something like that,” quickly changing subjects, “So you going to play with your plane today?”
His faced beamed with pride, “Definitely. You wanna come take a look. Pretty please. (he clasped his hands together) Can I bribe you with breakfast too?”
She contemplated his almost innocent plea.
“Please. Come on. I won’t bite you like a tiger. I’m more of a monkey remember,” as he started to his ugly face again making monkey sounds.
Laughing she said, “Okay, but realize your face could torture a man.”
“Alright! Come on,” as he held his hand to help her up.
Stepping out of the restaurant. “Wow you sure could wolf down those pancakes,” Rick said.
“What can I say they tasted so good?” Lisa sighed with delight.
“Hey you got something on your face,” Rick said.
“Where?” as she began to rubbed the side of her mouth.
“Not there. Here.” He attempted to mirror her.
Before she knew it her hand was all over her face and she realized she was joking. She hit him softly on the arm, “You such a kid. Did you know that?”
Rick let out a little cough and looked to the ground, “Yeah sure. Ummm…lets get to the hangar.”
Rick opened the door to the hanger and the sun reflected on a shimmery orange and white stunt plane.
“Isn’t she beautiful.” Rick beamed with joy.
“Besides the last competition I was in, I’ve won over 10 competitions with this plane. She’s my life’s blood.”
“Your planes name is Darling?” Lisa noticed.
“That’s what my mother called me. She pasted away a several years back.” He turned away and said with and uneasy tone.
“She never got to see me compete.”
“Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to bring up old wounds.” She wanted to reach out to him and talk of her own mother but she shook the idea out of her head. She just met him yesterday. ‘You don’t need that right now Hayes.’
“No worry. You asked about my plane not my mother. Yes. I love this plane. When I’m up in the sky I feel so free, uninhibited…” he closed his eyes and raised his arms up like he himself was the plane… “and I’m just soaring thru the air…(he moved his arms as if gliding)…and then I just take my plane and dive straight down like in a tail spin going out of control, out of control!…WOOSH then like magic I pull her up and I’m soaring thru the clouds again free like a bird…my worries I can let go of”
She watched him as if he were dancing. He didn’t seem to mind she was there watching him. Most pilots she had met didn’t have this level of creativity to them. Most pilots used their status to get women in bed and actually they seem to believe that magically their nuts got 3 times bigger because they flew a jet. She could tell his love of flying was something deeper. Something no one could take away from him; it was something of an almost spiritual nature for him.
He continued on with his flying motions but opened his eyes and grabbed her hand. “Come on fly with me,” and like little kids they ran around the hangar acting like they were airplanes.
Lisa couldn’t stop laughing at what she was doing. “Weeeee.” She said.
“Swish,” Rick replied back. He was beginning to pull her around faster then suddenly he tripped over his foot sending the both of them tumbling to the ground. She landed right next to him and they were both laughing hysterically. Her glasses had fallen off and her ponytail was tussled. He finally saw her eyes. They were a brilliantly shade of emerald green. But he also saw that her left eye was bruised.
He sat up and said, “Hey what happen to your eye?”
She quickly grabbed the glasses to put them back on.
“Hey did your ex-boyfriend beat you?” he said with concern.
“No, no no it’s nothing like that.”
“Elizabeth. Come on tell me. Did he hurt you?”
“No nothing like that. It’s too embarrassing to tell you?”
“Come on tell me.”
“No I can’t.”
“Don’t make me do the monkey face. In fact, I do a real good ugly hamster.”
She stared at him laughing. ‘Where does he come up with this stuff?’
“Okay, I’ll tell you. But you promise you won’t laugh alright?”
“Great. Let’s hear it.”
“It was a couple of days before I arrived here…‘After I caught my stupid ex cheating on me’ she scowled inwardly… “…I was sitting at a café and saw someone I really was trying to avoid…” she paused.
“Go on,” Rick sat closer.
“…I was trying to be discreet hoping that they wouldn’t notice I was there…” trying to be vague by not saying if it was a he or she. “…I had my head down almost like I was ducking…I wasn’t paying attention to whered I was going and BAMM my face walked into a platter a server had been holding…There was strawberry cheese cake all over me. I nearly wanted to die…But I was such in a hurry…I just ran out of there.” A tear slide down her cheek.
Rick felt his heart skip a beat when he saw the tear down her cheek.
“Hey can I ask you something?” he said sincerely.
“What?” She said glibly.
“Was the cake good? Mmm…I LOVE cheese cake?” his eyes closed licking his lips with enthusiasm.
“Oh, you’re an ass.” She tried to punch him in the arm but instead he caught her and grabbed her wrist. She tried to tickle him and they struggled as they attempted to stand. She then tried to sweep the back of his leg but he wouldn’t budge.
“Oh, commando girl.” He taunted. They were laughing as they continued wrestling with each other and Lisa fell to the floor and Rick landed on top of her.
As the laughter died down Rick noticed her glasses had fallen off and his eyes were locked with Lisa’s. How long they had been in that position she had no idea. Then their breathing had become in sync with each other.
“Hey there Ace,” Lisa said smiling endearingly up at him.
He had the most beautiful blue eyes she had ever seen. Unknowingly her hand had come up stroking the back of Rick’s ear. His skin was so soft, she had noticed.
Rick’s eye closed for a moment when her hand came behind his ear. He couldn’t grasp the sensations he was feeling at the moment. It was as if…as if his chest and legs were getting so…so…hot…a small bead of sweat came down the back of his neck and then opened his eyes again.
He let in a deep inhale and exhaled. ‘She’s real!’ and looking right at him.
She seemed to be lost in him. Touching him had felt so good. He was so sweet and caring
“I can’t resist,” as she licked her lips. She began pulling his head toward her.
‘Oh God. What is she doing? Rick thought in confusion. His heart began to beat faster.
‘So soft’ ran thru Lisa’s mind as she was drawing him closer.
He was inches from her. A scent filled his nostrils. Lavender? He thought.
She continued drawing him closer and closer…
…she could feel his breath only and inch away… She then closed her eyes ready for his sweet lips…she had let out a sigh…
“Bang!” and they both turned to find a beam had fallen over.
‘Dammit’ Lisa thought. ‘Ohhh!’ Rick sighed in disbelief.
In the distance an elderly man had pushed the hangar open so that the sun was now in their eyes.
Rick instantly jumped off Lisa.
“Hey Homer.” Rick said embarrassed.
“Ricky how you been? Uhh (scratching his head) sorry to have interrupted you and your girlfriend.”
“No Homer…this is not..I mean…This is Elizabeth.”
“Nice to meet you.” Lisa stuck out her hand.
“You don’t have to be so modest. I’m proud of you boy. You finally got a looker.”
Amused by his statement Lisa replied, “Thank you Homer.”
“Yup Ricky here was never interested in the ladies. His plane was his girlfriend this past few years of his life. You know at 16 you need to be getting out Ricky. Good to see that you have.
“Sixteen?” Lisa repeated.
“Yup. His a good looking boy for sixteen. Sometimes women have mistaken him to be older. Right, Ricky?”
“Yeah Homer.” Rick muttered thru his teeth. He wanted to go crawl under a rock right about now.
“Well, I was just wondering who was up in here. You have nice day ma’am. Ricky.” He tipped his hat and strolled out.
“You’re just a teenager,” she pinched his arm
“Owe. Hey that hurt…I’ve been told I’m pretty mature for my age.”
“You idiot. I’m a cradle robber.” She yelled.
“I uh…sorry.”
He looked at her beautiful green eyes. Those eyes that earlier had a yearning for him was now replaced with resentment.
“For what it’s worth you’re the most beautiful woman (the only woman) I’ve been with.”
“Save your lines, ACE!…I mean Ricky…whatever your name is. Let’s go home.”
The car ride home was dead silent.
She dropped him off by the parking lot by the cove.
“Elizabeth. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to lie to you. I wasn’t expecting that you were going to kiss me. I just wanted to hang out with yo..”
“What…me kiss you? You were practically all over me. Enough with your childish apologies. Out of my car?”
“What…childish…you’re…you’re…a…a…an old sour puss you know that? I just wanted to be your friend. I’m 16 but not dumb. You wanted to kiss me!” he retorted back.
“Just like a man to say that.”
“Hey don’t put me in that category lady. I’m sorry about your ex but I’m a nice a guy.”
He was fuming mad but struggled to speak, “I treat a woman like a princess; I’m like…like a knight.
“Oh spare me kid. You’re a hopeless romantic. You don’t know anything yet about love or relationships. Men can’t stay with one woman. Trust me relationships they are complicated and overrated.”
“Your complicated,” he fired back.
“You think one guy does something stupid and you can put all of us in a box. When I love a woman she’s the only one that stays on my mind.”
“Right! When have you done that in your short 16 years of living.” She bit back.
Rick fumbled, “I…well…I will…”
“Yup…just as I thought a hopeless romantic. Once you’re in love it bites you in the ass. It hurts. People do foolish things for love. It blinds you sometimes. They make promises they can’t keep,” ‘Like staying alive,’ she felt tears in the backs of her eyes.
“Come one Elizabeth…I didn’t mean too…” he begged.
“See ya around Ace. Sorry to throw my cynicism at you but…hell maybe you will find that soulmate of yours. Be sure to invite me to your wedding. Bye.” She said coldly and drove away.
“But wait…I don’t know how to get a hold of you.” He whispered under his breathe as he watched her drive away.
‘God.’ She thought inwardly pouting. I can be such a wench. I’m freaking Mrs. Robinson. Uhhh. Her face fell into her palms. She sat at the restaurant drinking her Scotch. She fused with her hair as she took another drink. Why did this not taste good to her. She held the class up. ‘A toast to the women with the most,’ she said sarcastically. ‘If I get drunk enough maybe I’ll pass out end up in another dimension and find out that women rule the world…NO that kind of luck only happens to Jerry O’ Connell.’
She scratched her head in irritation. No wonder he kept saying he had no luck with girls. He is just a boy. Thinking about him brought a frown on her face, “Maybe I was too hard on him.” As the server came with her steak she began gnawing hard with her teeth.
‘Maybe I’ll become a nun…but your not catholic…so what…they wouldn’t have to know? …she realized she was arguing with herself she started to pretend to hit her head on the table.
“Isn’t ironic. Don’t you think?” she stated to a spoon.
“I feel moronic if I really do think,” as she continued to gnaw on her food. The alchohol was beginning to hit her.
She drew in another breath, “But then…again he was so adorable,” remembering how he was at the hangar a couple of days ago.
“I’m sure the kids gonna to make some lucky woman happy someday.” She was feeling calmer. He hadn’t caused any real any harm. He did help her out. ‘Oh blah, blah blah.’ She felt so frustrated.
‘Face it Lisa you wanted to kiss him. He was just so sweet… and those blue eyes of his.’ She let out a long sigh. She should have known it was too good to be true.
She dialed the airline, “Yes hi. I wanted to reschedule my flight. Can I leave by tomorrow night…great. Thank you,” as she scribbled down the flight info.
She called the server to pay her bill and left. As she was leaving the restaurant there in the parking lot she turned and saw him just standing with a couple other people.
He saw her from a distance and he could feel the hair on his neck stand. He ducked behind a car.
“Rick what are you doing?” Asked Justin.
“You can come out from hiding. I know your there. I saw you.” Lisa spoke simply.
“Hey your that lady from the diner,” Justin pointed at her.
“Yes that is me. Ummm…I need to talk to your cousin. I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding I need to clear up with him. Can I borrow him for a minute?”
Justin walked over to Rick behind the car, “Hey Ace. She wants to talk to you. Go kiss and makeup,” he winked at him.
She had over heard Justin called him Ace. Well that’s a relief.
“I’ll see you inside,” Justin yelled as he walked in the restaurant.
“Can you talk?” She tried to look at him but all he could do was looking away. His hands were buried in his pocket and his feet were turned inward.
‘Cute.’ She had a slight grin glancing down at his feet.
“I’m having dinner with friends.” He glanced sideways at her.
“Listen. I…want to talk with you. I didn’t mean to be so harsh with you. My flight leaves tomorrow night. I understand if you don’t want to talk to me. I’ll be at the cove by 8 tonight. I’ll wait for half hour and if you don’t show I’ll understand.”
As she walked away his head finally popped up to see her drive away.
She looked at her watch: 8:10 PM. “I don’t think he’s going to show…I don’t even know what to say to him. I could barely speak to Brock. But then again he’s not my boyfriend,” she said feeling disappointed. She couldn’t understand why she was disappointed.
‘I give him credit though the kids got a lot of spirit and he is so idealistic. I’m sure he’ll find some new girl and forget this ever happened. Teens were resilient like that,’ she thought.
Then she heard footsteps behind her.
“Great you’re here,” as she turned.
“Umpf,” she said as she felt someone hit her in the stomach and she fell to the floor.
Looking up she saw in the moonlight Billy’s reflection. “Hello there babe. Didn’t you know I love late night strolls on beach?”
“SLAP” he had smacked her on the face with the back of his hand and she fell back into the water and hit her head. Dazed and confused he grabbed her by the hair and had thrown her to the ground.
“You know you’re just a dumb bitch! I was just trying to say hi to you that day. I had no intention of doing anything to you. You thought I was some pervert. You see my face. You put an ugly bruise on my pretty little face…
He had her pinned. Lisa’s still dazed tried to struggle free. He had her wrists above her in one hand and as she moved he shoved them down hard into the ground causing her to yell in pain.
“See. You made these weird assumptions of me. You had me all wrong. I just wanted to be your friend. So now just to make ya feel better I’m gonna prove your first assumption correct,” as he said this he began unzipping his pants.
“Help…!” Lisa screamed but he smothered her with his lips and bit her lower lip.
“Awww Shit,” She cried in pain.
“Go ahead yell again and I’ll bit your damn lip off,” as he began lowering her pants.
Lisa began whimpering. “Oh the tough lady is crying,” he taunted.
Rick got out of the car and waved good bye to Justin.
As he began walking he felt nervous, “What am I doing here? She’s probably going to scold me or something.” He was so sad knowing she was going to leave. He still remembered looking at those sparkling greens when she looked at him in the hangar. That’s probably that desire thing Roy had mentioned to him. ‘Damn,’ he had felt it too.
In the distant he saw two people. He grinned, looks like they are having sex. As he walked a little closer he squinted. The woman looked like she was struggle with the man…that woman was Elizabeth.
“Holy shit!” as he made a dash towards them.
“By the time I’m done you’re going to be moaning my name. In fact, go ahead and say it now. Come on say, Oh Billy,” he smirked.
She whispered something. He bent down to listen, “Fuck you dickhead,” and with her kneed she had bumped him off balance causing him to fall forward. She head butted him on the nose and he let go yelling in pain. She tried to get up but was still dizzy from hitting her head. As they were trying to both stand up he yelled, “I gonna kill you you crazy B…”
Rick had made a flying tackle for him knocking him on his back and hitting his head. He began punching him in the face.
“You sick bastard. punch How dare you punch do that to a woman!” He punched him few more times and then propped him up by his shirt and knocked him out.
As he left him lying there Rick turned to Lisa. He saw her on her knees trying to stand up. “Wait. Hold on. Don’t get up so fast.” He ran up to her kneeling next to her.
“You really are a knight in shining armor aren’t you,” she said to him staggering and then fainted.
“Oh Gawwd. My head!” Lisa howled laying on the couch.
She opened her eyes and saw baby blue eyes staring back at her.
“Hey there princess,” he smiled.
“Where am I?” she realized she was back at Claudia’s.
“Sorry…you fainted. I went thru your purse and I saw a paper with an address on it and took a chance. Justin helped me bring you here. I had to drive your car. I don’t have a license, yet but I figured if I can fly a plane I can drive a car.”
“Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.” as she hugged him for dear life. A rain of tears began to fall.
“It’s okay. Shhhh…you’re going to be fine,” as he continued to hold her.
She had stopped crying after about 10 minutes but she had remained in his arms for awhile with her eyes closed. Rick’s hand was brushing thru her hair.
Finally she slowly sat up to face him.
“Ricky or Ace whatever your name is. Thank God you had been there. I…I just don’t know what he would have done to me had you…not shown up.” She hiccupped and she reached for a tissue to blow her nose. She felt partly ashamed for putting him in that kind of danger. For being so…’STUPID.’
“From what I can tell you did pretty good. You made his nose bleed.”
There was a long pause as she turned her head slightly away still a little embarrassed but she realized having him here was calming her down.
Rick had reached for a strand of hair that had fallen in front of her face. Surprisingly she grabbed his hand, placed it on her cheek and nuzzled her face
It had been so long since she felt a man’s touch like this. She turned to him, “So tell me,” she spoke slowly, “have…you ever kissed a woman before?”
Rick blushed and for a minute froze… “Well, you know about Jenny Woodard. There was this one girl just last year, but she had braces and I ended up cutting my tongue…but…,”
He looked down at her. There was so much depth to her eyes. It was almost like she was eager…for something…What? He wondered.
“Those were girls…I asked if you kissed a woman.”
She yanked at his shirt collar and began kissing him.
Rick was stunned at first that his eyes were wide open and his lips closed. That’s when she took her hand and began to caress his ear. Then he felt it again. A warm sensation hit him the same way it did when she had done it the first time.
As his eyes closed his mouth relaxed slightly open. Lisa took the opportunity to slide her tongue inside of him. She felt the softness of his lips as her tongue explored him. It was like she was tasting him. ‘Karl, I wish you were here,’ deepening the kiss.
His head was spinning. Her tongue was so foreign to him. It was deep in him. His palms were sweating and his heart was beating erratically. He could feel her breast against his chest and her hand gently caressing the his lower back and her other hand on his chest. Not knowing what to do he placed his hands on the only place that felt safe on her lower spine.
He could feel her smiling as they continued to kiss. She could feel that he didn’t know where to place his hands. She then took his right hand and placed it on her left breast encouraging him to knead it.
He flinched when he touched her breast. He groaned.
She then pulled him on top of her deepening her kiss. Her hand glided inside of the back of his shirt and she could feel his strong back muscle. Rick again flinch inwardly as he felt her gentle strokes pushing her deeper into the couch.
She then began nibbling his ear. ‘Mmmmmm.’ Her hands unconsciously grab his butt and she began to push her pelvis up against his and breathed heavily into his ear.
Rick was instantly startled… “WHOAAAA,” he yelled beginning to lose his balance…he fell off the couch.
Seeing him befuddled Lisa laugh softly. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah…I…uh…,” scratching his head.
“Shhh…” she put her finger to his lips.
“I think I got a little carried away,” she said as she sat up.
Still confused, “Thank you,” was all he could say.
“Thank you?” you’re the one who saved me. Twice I should say.
“I mean since I’ve met you…this has been the most exciting summer…I mean I got to kiss a beautiful woman…I..” still lost for words.
Lisa gave him one more peck on the lips, “Your welcome.”
“Uhh…I guess…I guess…I’ll be going home. You probably need your rest. Aren’t you leaving tomorrow.” Rick said regretfully.
“Hey do you need a ride home?”
“No its cool you just go to bed. I’ll give Justin a call.” He said trying to hide the tears in his eyes.
“Hey come here,” she pulled him in to hug her.
“I’m going to miss you,” he said into her shoulder.
“Me too. But hey you I do think you really are a handsome knight who’s going to find his princess.” She held him tighter - feeling a sense of loss come over her. ‘I’m actually going to miss this kid, guy…whatever…he didn’t kiss like no kid.’
He had brought her a blanket from the hallway closet and had placed it on her shoulders.
She planted her head on the sofa arm and placed her legs in a fetal position as Rick sat next to her. “Hey don’t’ worry about me. I’ll just wait with you for Justin to come.” She had pulled him in and spooning him into her body; The both of them laid quietly on the couch and drifted asleep.
She awoke with a drunkin grogginess. She placed her forearm on her forehead. “What a vacation!”
As she sat up on the couch she spotted on the coffee table a pile of used tissue. Was Ace still here?
“Ace,” she called out. But he had left.
“What time is it? 1PM.” As she got up she felt a loneliness in the air.
“Back to reality...sigh...Lieutenant Hayes,” as she opens up her luggage and begin to pack.
As she sat in her seat waiting for the plane to depart she pulled out a piece of paper. She began to read over it. It was only a sticky note but just smiled holding it in her had. On it was a small drawing of a Rose on it and on the bottom it had read, “Thank you my fair lady.” – your knight
“Hopeless Romantic,” Lisa smiled and had tucked it into the airline pocket in front of her planning to throw it way
…then changed her mind, pulled it out and put it back in her purse.
Sitting on the rock looked at the little round object. It had said EH on the back. “She won’t miss it,” he said.
After all it was just a keychain. It had been lying on the sand after the struggle and he had accidentally left it in his pocket.
He smiled thinking, What does the ‘H’ mean? How about Hunter, Elizabeth Hunt…?
“Nah,” He laughed. “Hopeless Romantic,” she had called him. He stood up and headed home.
To be continued…
